One early October morning, Gertrude and her friend Francis step out of the barn to go to their feed pen and to have their breakfast. Gertrude: Good mourning Francis. Francis: Good morning to you Gertrude. Gertrude: Let's see what our human friends gave us today. Francis: Yup! I can't wait. They both walk over to their food pen and begin to munch away. After a few brisk chops and munching, they look at each other. Francis: Well, that was good. But I need something to wash it down. Gertrude: Okay. Come over to the next pen and try this turnip juice. Francis: Okey dough key! I'll try that. (Gertrude grinned). Francis bends down and takes a few sips of the turnip juice. Suddenly! Francis rises up! His eyes turns google! And he jumps around and kicking his hind legs! White smoke comes streaming out of his ears! And then - just like a Saturn V rocket, he lifts off! Janet comes out of the house holding a platter of food. Janet: Good mourning guys! Here's some left over SPAM-wiches and . . . . . . Janet looks up and sees a mule flying over the house and flies across the sky. Janet: (whispering) . . . . bacon . . . . . Suddenly there is a big crash! Francis crashes into and through the roof of Mrs. Guthrie's barn and lands in a stack of hay. Janet turns to Gertrude and gives the eye. Gertrude looks up to Janet and looks so innocent. Janet: Gertrude. Gertrude - you naughty girl you! You know I was saving the turnip juice for our friends at Creature Features! Now, go back to your room! Gertrude walks ever so slowly, up the barn entrance and into her little warm room. Janet: How am going to explain this? CLOSE UP on Gertrude: Gertrude grinned :) FADE TO BLACK.

Mrs. Guthrie opens the door... MRS GUTHRIE: "Oh it's you Janet....and that goat I always find in my turnip garden....and a mule!???" JANET: "hi Mrs. Guthrie! I just wanted to say hello!.....Hello!....and um (pointing to the mule) Francis wants to tell you something...." MRS.. GUTHRIE: " the mule wants to tell me something?" Mrs.Guthrie and Francis stare at each other in silence for a solid minute and then Janet nervously tries to cover her mouth and pretend she's Francis talking.... JANET: "Hi ...I'm Francis and um.....I think you're swell....and....I ...um ruined the roof of your barn." MRS GUTHRIE: " very funny Janet , but I can see your lips moving. It's a bit early for Halloween, but if you come back on the actual day I'll give you all some sweets. Now you run along you little rascals it's past my bed time!" As they walked back to Craft Manor Janet looked at Francis and said..." thanks a lot Francis!, now Mrs.Guthrie thinks I'm a complete whacko!" Janet, Francis and Gertrude began to chuckle and they all lived happily ever after....until Mrs. Guthrie went to her barn the next morning!!!! FADE TO BLACK!

When I was a young lad, my father introduced me to Mickey Rooney (back in the 70's) He was as just as a lovable in person as he is/was in all his films. Dad always said that he never let success get between being Hollywood and still being human. Great family moment with a brush with Hollywood! Thanks CF crew for making me remember childhood memories! Grown up and having my own children... seeing Rooney as the foul mouthed, corrupted, malcontent security guard in "Night In The Museum" was an emotional crush.... The quarter horse is so named because a quarter of a mile is the approximate distance that it can run at full speed, the length of races in which it was run. A mule is the offspring of a horse and a donkey. As a hybrid of two closely-related species, mules are of course sterile but they are more docile, obedient, and sturdier than horses or donkeys.

I love Halloween and my husband and I do a whole skeleton family reunion and a spooky forest, with a cemetery full of grave stones. We also do the full size candy bars and toys for the small children. We also have a chili feed and potato soup. We celebrate the holiday because when our son passed away and we went to make arrangements for burial we were blessed by our community. We did not have to pay for anything. So we know that Halloween is the time that those individuals and generations of their family's come to our home and we feel like it gives us an opportunity to give back . We will always be grateful for the blessings we have received during our time of need.
