I previously owned two Canon R3 cameras. While the R6 II is not exactly a successor to the R3, I share the same sentiments you expressed in your video presentation for the R6 II with a battery grip. Instead of upgrading to the R1, I decided to go with a pair of Canon R5 II cameras. They have nearly the same shooting features but come with the advantage of a 45 MP sensor, which is a plus for tighter cropping. In my opinion, the R1 is just a minimal upgrade from the R3, essentially an R3 II. Until Canon releases the rumored RX, I believe the R5 II is the better choice over the R1! In the meantime, I use my Canon R6 II as a backup or a triggered remote camera for sports. BTW, a third-party Battery Grip BG-R10 is available from Amazon for less money and works great on my R6 II and a previous R5, but not on the R5 IIs. They currently require the Canon brand.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Yeah, absolutely: I think that people on the fence about the R3 should consider investing in a batter grip to get a taste of what it 'could' be. Congrats on the R5 Mark II upgrade. I'm actually considering that one myself. I was salivating the moment it was announced. The only things keeping me from pulling the trigger are having to buy new CF Express Cards, their reader as well as dealing with heavier file sizes; I bet it also leads to having to purchase more storage. As a wedding photographer, I'm dreading it already!

@@FranciscoAlvarezTV I always shoot in CRAW mode on my R5 II. For comparison, 64 MB RAW at 14-bit versus 33 MB CRAW at 12-bit shows that the picture quality is nearly indistinguishable, and the dynamic range remains the same. I also use CRAW on my R6 II, where the files are 16 MB instead of 34 MB for RAW. This also means that files load onto the memory card twice as fast, depending on the card's write speed. Additionally, I typically shoot at 20 FPS instead of 30, unless it’s a critical sports game. Keep in mind that the secondary SD card is much slower than a CFexpress card, so it’s best to save medium JPGs to that card as a backup. Shooting RAW files onto a secondary SD card can lead to performance issues.
@FranciscoAlvarezTV18 күн бұрын
@ dang. I can imagine CRAW is better for sports but I have never thought about using that for weddings. Don’t really feel the need nor do I shooter in bursts often (dare I say EVER?!) File sizes can be managed that way for sure. If it’s negligible you might as well…but don’t you feel like you’re leaving cards out on the table by not enjoying the full benefits of what your sensor can offer?!
@JGZphotography18 күн бұрын
@@FranciscoAlvarezTV - I would use the full RAW size for specilized commercial or portraits. But remember, you still get the 45 MP in CRAW format for solid detailed super enlarged quality prints. Also, 45 MP is not realized on social posts and PC/Laptop screens, and nobody will know you're holding a 45 MP camera or looking at photo proofs captured by a 18, 24 or 45 MB sensor. In the weddings I have taken, I remain pleased of the capture quality of the R6 II. I chose the R5 IIs for the features that made sports photography a game changer.

@@JGZphotography Right on! Yes, for sure. I keep my R6 Mark II because although it's not great at any one thing, it's good at many. IMHO, it's the BEST overall wedding photography camera...but then again I don't own YOUR R5 Mark II, haha

The video is amazing but the audio is a bit rough, it’s definitely peaking, you should lower sensitivity, get mic farther away or get a windscreen for it. Awesome video!

The original Canon grips have ridiculous prices, just buy third party ones.

@@joaovtaveira to be honest, I’ve thought about it but there are two things I’ll never go 3rd party on and that’s batteries and grips. I’ve heard of fellow photographers speak highly on off brands but it’s one area I don’t like cutting corners on.

@ yes but not all "third party" brands are the same; I had one for my Canon EOS 70D, from Meike, and had almost no problems, now I don't have one for my Canon EOS E7 because Canon took the stupid and absurd decision of make it don't prepare it to them. Thanks and the same to you.
