"We are not like that. We have to work" As if Corelli hadn't had to. He had to work extremely hard to achieve what he had.

It's really rare to see combined in an opera singer such an impressive voice and stage presence. It must have been a very thrilling experience to be in the theater during his performances.

His voice is carrying me so far away... It is beyond all human understanding, and he did not spare his divine gift, and stopped when felt he could not be superior...

I saw him 4 times and got his autograph. Voice from another galaxy. Melted me with that "Vittoria" that went around the world. He was so awed by my friends tears he reached out and touched her wet face. That an international star would care so about us teens. Such a nice man too.

The Turandot footage is from 1970 (Live, Macerata), while the audio is from 1966 (Live, Met). However, the audio (In questa reggia) from the same 1970 performance has recently appeared on KZbin. It's amazing.

Why are they singing it one semitone higher in this 1966 audio? Corelli hits a high C# here, pretty rare coming from him. The high B in his first "gli enigmi" line is also outstanding.

What does being able to move a piano with one finger have to do with vocal coordination. I guess by his theory we should pluck people out of the mr universe competition and turn them into singers. Size and strength mean nothing if you dont have the proper vocal coordination

Yeah, but look at MDM. He wasn't as big as Franco, but had a more powerful voice. It doesn't matter the size. Or Robert Merrill, he was so small, but had a descent voice. There are probably more examples to this.
@nthdegree1269
@nthdegree1269 4 жыл бұрын
Not the range though. Franco had the power plus range, and tremendous endurance and control. Del Monaco never had Corelli's high notes, but he did have tremendous power. Del Monaco power is very/very rare.

@@nthdegree1269 come on, he just didn't have the reliability and longevity on the high C, and maybe franco had a bit of an edge on the B in terms of ease and dynamics, but up to high Bb Del Monaco was a powerhouse that almost nobody ever matched.
@ZENOBlAmusic
@ZENOBlAmusic Жыл бұрын
@@user-cy6xl3vd3f Del Monaco had the most powerful mid tenor voice. Corelli had the most powerful high tenor range. Del Monaco also did not always have reliable high B, but his mid range was like a great bronze column. It is rare for a tenor to have such a good mid range.
