I met Frank Carson in Heathrow departures 1981. He told me a joke, not too sure what he’s about, but it was to do with an arse and talcum powder. I laughed because I had to laugh. I didn’t get the joke, but he was a Roman Catholic from Belfast, who was in the parachute regiment, the British Army and he ended up being a mayor in a town north of Dublin. What a hero. God bless, Frank.

Frank had a lovely friendship with my ex husband. It all started when my ex became Frank’s post man, and the rest was history. So many times, I saw Frank, in the butchers I used. Every time I went in, and he was in there, it was going to be a long wait for my Pork Chops. But I have to say, how he is on stage, in interviews etc, is exactly what he was like in real world. Again, when we saw him in town, u could hear him before seeing him, and his poor wife was walking 8 foot behind him. Every time I go past his home ( for those who are interested, I live in Blackpool) I always look at his house and feel sad, because an incredibly talented, genuine, gentle, kind hearted and selfless man once lived there and it is so sad. It is the same every time I go past the house, which the Nolans grew up in. Every time I go past there, I can’t help but think of Bernie, another talented and kind hearted person. I’m no stalker or celebrity chaser lol. I pass their houses every day whilst going about my business.

unfortunately this type of comedian is sadly extinct, the standards for comedy like music have gone down so much now, anybody can tell a big long story about how your ex brushed her teeth but it takes real talent to rapid fire punchline jokes and without resorting to words like shag or fcuk. hopefully kids will see some of these clips.
