I lived at Harwell in the late 1960's early 70's and one of my neighbours remembered Fuchs well. She had worked in the library and said he was always very particular about the security of reports!

Never had a clue about all this. Fuchs and MAD. Will read up a bit. Thank you for this lecture.

"Fuchs was an anti-Nazi"... well yes, but he was actually a Communist, not merely "anti-Nazi".

I thoroughly enjoyed this video! This is my first introduction to Klaus. After hearing of him I wonder if we’re related. My family pronounces our last name Fox. I don’t know if he did as well but I am curious about that too.

wow. Klaus Fuchs is a hero and true comrade. w/o the Soviets having MAD as a deterrent, what restraints would the US have ever shown? what a shame he confessed. he could have continued to do great work in the House of Lords for the party.

I am someone tortured who was on the USS Pueblo in 1968, and I was drug tortured from fall of 68 to 75 and considered broken. I was no. 4 on test scores in the world, supposedly. I was very mature for my age. My classes in math, science, and hard science were sabotaged by over 21 year old foreign born students in my classes from Fall of 68 in San Antonio. I was only 12, but very mature for my age. Some of my classmates were 21 to 30 and killing young girls after raping or seducing them with pot and beer, etc. About nuclear bomb development - I suspect the Nazis shelled the USSR with that huge, huge cannon using nuclear shells after operation barbarosa started. I'm trying to understand history and the war crimes that occurred. Some tend to blame Stalin and communism for trapping hitler into warring, but saying that they knew Hitler and the Nazis were planning to do what most think communists wanted to do - take over the world. And continued to do so after WW2. The USSR declared war on Japan, and then Japan surrendered. Strangely, evidence is missing in my research that A bombs were really dropped on Japan in 1945. I personally talked to an Enola Gay crew member and he denied his plane had dropped an A bomb. What were the real decisions made after ww2 to build nuclear bombs, and reactors? Some scientists, after the nuclear bombs were built, wanted to ban them. But the Germans had used nuclear shells on the USSR, and got away to Antartica and elsewhere with what their ideology demanded. And got into the US security groups, and NASA. Did Nazis build the US nuclear arsenal and overuled the scientists who objected to nuclear weapons being built?

which just goes to show there are some strange revisionists who can type and have plenty of time. Nobody is Nbr 4 on maths test in the world. there is no standardised math test which is universal. etc etc...
