1st time I have shared this story... when I worked at a pawnshop in Columbus, Ohio a guy walked in wanted to see a guitar (gold les paul) hanging way up high and was interested in it and asked me if I could get it down for him... I had no idea who he was I said ok brb and went to get the ladder.... after getting it down and handing it to him I went in the back and a few minutes later heard this guy whaling out some riffs... being young and inspired I went over to where he was testing this gold les paul... I said damn dude your pretty good are you in a local band or something like that... He said "No" I said you should be you are really good.... then he said he played in a band called "Tesla" at 1st i thought he was joking "I went and found tesla cassette insert and saw the band photo sure enough it was him.... anyway to tell less details @4:23 Frank reminds me of my self telling this story learning van halen from older guys... at this time I was watching him and I had a guitar in hand and Frank showed me how to play "MeanStreet" from van halen He came back the next day and decided to buy the gold les paul I was 19 years old will never forget this guy he was pure CLASS!

I picked up my first guitar after hearing 5 Man Acoustical Jam. I learned guitar by watching countless bootleg DVDs of Tesla/Frank Hannon and just playing along. It became a huge honor playing a show with you in Salt Lake City. Thanks Frank.

Awesome interview. Can't believe Hannon was in a band called Moondog Mayne, doubtless after the Portland wrestler from the '70s. Thank you, Frank, for all the great music and memories - your music is the music of my early teens, I spent many nights as a kid honing my own chops to Mechanical Resonance. You make that SG sing, growl, cut, caress, moan and scream and everything in between!

I had a semester of theatre at San Jose State with Christy's sister, Kim. She was (and I'm sure still is) an awesome human being - I was such a stupid kid back then. I hope she's doing well - that's really cool that Dickey Betts is your father-in-law, Frank! Much admiration for him as well.

AS FAR AS ALBUM SALES, and new trend in popular music (which had quite a strong run : 7to 8 years) TESLA , UNDENIABLY , STARTED THE WHOLE 'UNPLUGGED' TREND , with '5 MAN ACOUSTICAL JAM', specifically with the song 'SIGNS' ( a Ten Years After cover , btw) - which charted pretty high . Frankie is being humble and a bit coy , here, when he comments on that 6:36 Tesla has always been a band that continues to carry the torch for straight, pure , guitar driven Rock N Roll.

Frank seems like a good guy. I saw Tesla in Daytona Beach at the Ocean Center in 92. Franks rendition of Peter Framptons, Do You Feel Like I do, was mind blowing. Great show. My live albums of memory were Alice Cooper, Welcome to my Nightmare. Kiss, Alive. Ted Nugent, Double Live Gonzo. Kiss , Alive II. Aerosmith, Live Bootleg.

boogieplex indeed ..I am a Southpaw so I never had to option for a left handed SG in white body and black BG ..But I have a Black Body white batwing BG from 1977 I have looked into getting paint9but sadly way to much...not like a fender where u can take off neck etc...
