very nice tribute to a wonderful player and teacher.... I was fortunate to study and work with him while he was in Detroit. I agree, one of the greats! During one lesson, he played the solo from "Petrouscka" two times through in one breath! David Bilger also a great player, just different. Anyone who can hold down a principal chair, or any chair for that matter, as you point out, in a top orchestra deserves great respect.

I heard my dear friend Frank Kaderabek play scores of times where his solos stood out for their power varied color and Humanity. Bilger by comparison well his tone was white and Bland

Funny with the Philadelphia Orchestra I too look forward to Frank's playing that wonderful Solo in Stravinsky's Petrushka. And man talk about Powerhouse opening the Mahler 5th as he did so often: such a majestic soaring Style and glorious sonority

I once saw Frank at a Harry James performance -he was visiting backstage with Harry and I was there to get a photo signed. Jerry later said that Harry was one of Frank's idols

i will buy a 1sc cornet MP and get a adapter to use it in my trumpets and give you a report on my results. i got the 1967 conn director cornet for $15 from a thrift store off ebay in near mint condition it is a 0.484 circus bore. . for a student cornet i plays and sounds fantastic.. i will be in touch
