Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wescott House

We visited there about 15 years ago. A well informed docent gave a lecture and tour, and could answer (my) our questions, beyond the lecture notes. It was a beautiful restoration. We got to really feel what it would be like to live in such an unusual house. The street it is located on has other interesting historic homes. Every square inch of the home was designed by Wright, like the light fixtures. Ever since the development of "retro" lighting,....the light fixtures had brand new bare bulbs, with their distinctive 1900s shape. It was surprising, that before it was restored, it had fallen into horrible decay, and had been turned into a rooming house, and the original rooms had been sub-divided into smaller suites. Luckily they were able restore everything back to the way it had been. Before that occurred certain parts of the building had been stolen, and were being sold by antique dealers. The community had to ask if anyone had gotten, those stolen items, and if they would bring them back. This was the case with some large planter urns, that sat outside the original building.
