You don’t even have to be told it’s a Frank Lloyd Wright house. It’s just gives off this energy, you know, you can feel it.

This was wonderful. Can't believe they even considered a Wright home for demolition. All Wright structures should be preserved as historical landmarks - no matter what the case.

Your parents were DIY warriors! What a wonderful job they did on your childhood home. What a crying shame that the Peterson home was for a while left to decay. Thanks for the tour.

Lovely videos. My grandfather was an architect in Vancouver Washington. We are faced with renovating his mid century residence that he designed and built in the 70's. He loved enjoyed Wrights work. Wish I could have asked him much more before he died.

Thank you for telling this amazing story about these two charming cottages. I grew up in Wisconsin, and when my younger brother inspired me to look more into Wrights designs, we both fell in love with all of his works. Imagine my delight when one day my brother said he was able to rent the larger cottage for about a year. I believe it was you that he made that arrangement with . That year our whole family was able to spend Christmas eve there celebrating and admiring that beautiful property. I and my sister made food in that very kitchen for our families. My brother told us many fascinating bits of information about the house and land. Our kids were so impressed with the sprites lining the driveway. I have photos of my son posing next to one. Thank you for the opportunity to be able to sneak a peak into the lives of your family and their journey with this beautiful home. I will always treasure my family's memories of our time spent there.

I had my high school students research the Seth Peterson Cottage before they made CAD drawings of it. It was a fun two weeks each school year for all.

Even though Wright designed many Corporate and Civil buildings, it was his houses and cottages that pleased us all. I hope he does not doom me from on high, if I plagiarizer some of his motifs. He made all us the designers of our homes.

I simply stumbled upon this. This is lovely. Very warm video. I like the warmth with which you speak about your family, their dedication, and these projects. And I love that table at 6:28.

Thanks for your note. The table and chairs were used every day, and saw many dinner parties with Wes Peters, Jack Howe, Edgar Tafel, Aaron Green and other architects. My sister, who lived next door in the studio with her husband for several years, recalls the fascinating conversations over dinner, then scotch and cigars. "If that house could talk!" Wright chairs' upright backs have been criticized by some people, but my mother always said, "No one ever left our parties because the chairs were uncomfortable."

Tragic side story about that young man and the why is often never known. Of course there can be a million reasons but given the era and his drive, it screams a project to attract that special someone that may not have worked out. There’s always a back story and thankfully the dominant one here is a family’s amazing journey, hard work and tenacity to achieve their dream.

Gorgeous, but it’s a big shame that the renovation replaced the fabulous red kitchen counters and backsplash.

Hi Lonnie, Thank you for sharing your parents legacy, truly wonderful. Are either of the cottages available for tours or as a VRBO? Your video really was moving for me as I am a retired chemist that enjoys nature and mastering trades I was not able to be part of during my life in the lab.
@lonnielovness4589 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the note. My father was a chemist and also a boxer and sparring partner for heavy weight Elmer "Violent" Ray in the late 1940s -'50s. He was a man of many talents, including a WWII pilot. Many great stories in my book about that. The Peterson cottage is available for overnight rentals. There is an open house the second Sunday of every month 1:00 to 4:00. More info at the website sethpeterson.org. The Lovness cottage remains a private residence and is not open to the public.
