It's so good to see young folks like you discovering Frank. I've been rocking his stuff since the early 70s, and it's a ride I'm happy I didn't miss.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this reaction on Frank Marino, he is so rarely in reaction videos even though he is one of the greatest guitarists. I've been listening to it since the 70s. When I ordered his blu ray on his site I asked if he could make me an autograph on it and he kindly did it for me, not everyone would do that !...

BACK IN 1975 Frank and other bands were playing at Sherwood Forest. It is a small hall in Davison Michigan. It was well known for bands and parties. It was private property so cops never came out there. Every table had a Whisky soaked watermelon and three joints on it. Frank was just milling around in the crowd and we went outside and burned a fat one. I think there were six people there passing the joint around. I had no idea who he was. Not until he went on stage and smoked the place! Ted Nugent and Bob Seger was playing there as well but they were not famous back then. Nobody cared about them or Frank we were just having fun. Frank leveled the place! He went on before Seger but nobody cared about him after frank laid it down! Frank was all the buzz after his amazing performance! I stood back in awe and thought, I just burned with him and he just smoked all the bands playing here today. That was a fun day I will never forget!

I only discovered MR for myself this last year. I am 65 right now and I finally figured it out. There are signs in front of roller coasters that state "You must be 'this tall' to ride." I'm finally tall enough. That was SOME ride Frank!!

Thanks for reacting to this legend! This entire concert is fantastic. Pretty much every song has an extended solo. Frank's stamina was amazing, especially given his age.

Francesco Antonio Marino (born November 20, 1954) is a Canadian (Montreal) guitarist and singer, best known as the leader of Canadian hard rock band Mahogany Rush. Often compared to Jimi Hendrix, he is described as one of the most underrated guitarists of the 1970s. In 2021, he announced his retirement from music.

I'M 70 YEARS OLD AND I SAW FRANK A LONG TIME AGO ! AND TO THIS DAY , I'VE SEEN ALOT OF GUITARISTS BUT BY FAR FRANK IS THE FASTEST AND THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN ! HIS BAND CAME OUT FIRST , AND THEN WHEN HY CAME OUT , HE WAS LIKE 100 MPH ! INCREDIBLE ! HE'S STILL AROUND , BUT SADLY HE'S NOT ABLE TO PLAY LIKE HE DID BEFORE ! I THINK SOMETHING HAPPENED TO HIS HANDS , THAT KEPT HIM FROM PLAYING ! I THINK HE STILL DOES STUDIO STUFF NOW !

Frozen shoulder, wear and tear. plus Father time😢😢.. Frank's got a lot of Rock and Roll miles in his rear view mirror and has earned his cush time! His shows were epic and rarely under 2hrs unless he was the opener. This Agora set ran 6 hrs worth and a ton of other material didn't make the 3 day project...it's amazing how his voice in 2010 rivaled his 70's era vocals. Thanks Maddie...you rock!!

The first time I heard Frank Marino was on my brother's loud Pioneer stereo playing Johnny B Goode. It was, and is, absolutely spectacular! As Rick Derrrrriinger ( Edgar Winter pronunciation) once said before a show he was in. "It's gonna be a rock and roll spectacular! " Phenomenal. I think I read an article somewhere that Frank perhaps modified that moving bridge to get more range? I guess people try that with Bigsby as well. Either way, Frank DEFINITELY got the range. Also, I get confused with the SG models. Is that an SG custom he plays? Note that Les Paul is also holding the SG style guitar in his famous photograph as well. However that model Les Paul had in the famous picture is actually a Les Paul Custom.

Nice, you are one of the very few that reacts to this guitar master, one of the best back in the day. I saw him 3 times, twice in the 70s with the band he made his name in, Mahogany Rush, the first time he opened for Queen (touring in 74, off their first couple albums, Wow!) and did a set of Hendrix in tribute, he killed it for over an hour and surprised everyone there. Then I saw him open for Lou Reed and he had originals this time, his first 2 albums are very psychedelic, very 60s style hard rock with that vibe and very well done, a good sample is Talkin' 'bout a Feeling, a cool banger that transports you back to that era. Strange Dreams is another. More Frank when you can, always worth a listen. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶

Frank’s live performances were always very well rehearsed. What you heard from his studio work he could duplicate perfectly in live settings, and the bonus was he could heighten what was already remarkable work. Was at the live album taping in 78, (the black album) and have been a fan ever since. A most humble deserving Legend!

The pleasure's mine. It's never too late to give this man some cred. Will always be one of my favorites. The fact that he didn't get that much mainstream popularity makes his sound that much richer now. Over the years, I've turned family and friends onto him, who all enjoy his work and wondered why they never heard of him. It's a pleasure to see newcomers like Maddy appreciate his talent. As she says, Frank's music 'takes you on a journey' ..

So many guitar players today think that they are cool because they can run scales fast. Frank has style. Frank feels his notes and they are emotional to him. That translates to the listener too. So all you hot shots out there listen up. Fast is not as cool as blues with jazz elements thrown in. To transition between the two is style. That makes you great. Not playing scales that others did on other albums. Do not copy, be unique. That will get you farther than anything else.

There are two kinds of guitar players in this world. Those who copy others and run scales at light speed and those who can transition between styles and make it emotional and personal. Both have fans but style always wins over similarity. Remember that. A guitar solo has to hit the listener with emotion and feeling. Ask Ted Nugent or Michael Schenker or Jimmy Page or Jimmy Hendrix or David Gilmore. Style always wins over technique. The solo has to have a musical fit to the music. It has to mean something special. Shred is just stale at this point because everybody can do it.
