I know how difficult it can be trust me, but she is forever part of you. You are quite literally half of her. In everything you do, who she is takes part in that action, and her spirit pushes you forward in your pursuit to greatness, show her how proud you can make her even in her absence, she is witnessing your growth, cheering you on with the unconditional love she has always had for you ❤️🩹

I was watching Southpaw a few months ago with my father, he was diagnosed with cancer shortly before the covid-lockdown began in Germany. He couldn‘t get any visitors at home, so he watched mostly tv when he felt alright. This was one of the last films I watched with him. I remember feeling so emotional at the end when I heard this song, i immediately recognized frank ocean. I felt so warm hearing „ you’re mother would be proud of you“ when the the daughter and father were hugging in the last scene. My father died now 9 months ago. It feels so surreal and crazy. I can’t even realize it. Anyway when I hear this song, I think about him a lot and I get all these memories of him and feel his presence. Thank you for this masterpiece! Rest in Paradise Baba. I love you forever and always. ♥️

I was just reminded of this song and went to search it up, and I was not expecting to find a comment from only an hour prior. I feel the exact way, life is so hard and painful and it’s so difficult to keep finding reasons to keep going-but even though we’re both going through it, it’s comforting to at least know that I’m not alone in these feelings. I hope God is rooting for me too. I’m rooting for you, I don’t know you but I’m rooting for you, I believe in you and I hope that light and happiness comes to both of us ❤️

It has been 4 days since my brother's best friend's funeral. It has been 14 days since he died. They played this song showing all his pictures of him growing up. They grew up together and my brother made the video and put on the song. I haven't stopped listening to it since. My baby brother grew up infront of me carrying his friend's casket and saying his speech. I can't get the funeral out of my head or his death, I can't imagine what my brother is going through. I’ve been coming back to this song for years. Everytime I have a big decision to make or I’m bout to take on something I don’t think I can handle I play this one. It’s gotten me through some of my darkest times and has become one of my top 5 motivational songs to get my head straight. Definitely going to have it on replay for a min while I think over some more life decisions. It got me through my father’s death, moving, leaving for the army, leaving country, saying goodbye to my loved ones. I know it’ll get me through what’s coming next. About a decade. Crazy how long music sticks with someone. Definitely one of franks top songs in my opinion. Maybe not record wise or sales. But to me. This one is my favorite.

Wiseman closed his mouth Madman closed his fist Young man shows his age Judge man named it sin Bad men don't exist, no, no Evil men exist Good men don't exist, no, no Righteous men exist Sad man cannot cry in place where men can see Never witnessed father weep This old man thought it weak But strong men don't exist, no Undying men exists Weak men don't exist, no Just flesh and blood exist But your mother would be proud of you I bet your mother would be proud of you The beast will crawl this earth Then fall in the dirt to feed the crows They'll rip apart his flesh Till all that's left is glorious bone So you'll bury your own Too vain You saw it unfold What you know You claimed all you could hold Until death did you part from the mess you made I bet your mother would be proud of you I bet your mother would be proud of you Primate sharpens tool To survive and thrive in the jungle Maybe hearts were made to pump blood Maybe lungs were made for flood I won't blunt my blade for cut these chains Rather let my limbs be drug through mud You're my brother but your eyes are cold You're my sister but your womb is bare I bet our mother would be proud of you (You, you, you, oooh) I bet our mother would be proud of you (Mother would be proud) Bad men don't exist, no Evil men exist I know good men don't exist, no Righteous men exist But strong men don't exist, no Undying men exists Weak men don't exist, no Just flesh and blood exists I bet your mother would be proud, oooh I bet your mother would be proud, oooh

My sister passed in march. This song reminds me of her. She wasn’t perfect. Lots of demons. At the end of the day, we are all human filled with good and bad. But still our mother was and is proud of her (so am I) for all she accomplished in her 37 years of life. Miss you Angela.

i never had a relationship with my dad side of the family & my grandma on his side now has cancer i’ve never thought that one day there would be a day they would leave this earth i wouldn’t know them and they wouldn’t know the person i am today.. but it’s taught to be grateful for the ones who love you and take the time to get to know & there for you because life is short. never take your love ones for granted love them while there here and get to know them while you still have the opportunity to. sending so much love to whoever reads this..💘💕💖

Ive always been a daddy's girl. He was/is thr absolute BEST father and person ive ever met. He was PURE,selfless, and when it came to raising me he kept the heart of a child, yet the mind of a Bear when it came to protecting me.He taught me what unconditional love was. He was always my best friend. He struggled with immense pain for most of my life and as i grew older I could tell he was so tired of suffering. Along with many injuries from the past, he also struggled with grand mal seizures. His brain was split from old injuries and he was told that one more hit to his head would likely kill him. He struggled with the idea of living in this world in pain, or leaving it but also temporarily leaving me. For years. 2 Novembers ago i went to bed slightly earlier than normal. Before I went to bed i told him I loved him. He went into his room& turned his light on. I woke up at 5:15am to feed my 2mo old baby and I saw that my dads light was on so I asked to see if he was up. I didn't hear an answer so i i cracked the door some. I found my dad face down so i went to touch him to try to wake him up..only to realize that he was in rigormortis. Imagine ALL of the love in the whole world combined into one person. I lost my absolute best friend. And now i wake up every day here without him.with no one in the world who loves me that purely. And alone. With NO words that ever fit the love & loss that I wish so badly to Express. All i can do now is hope that he truly can still be with me, and maybe he's even proud too. **please no hateful or rude comments.

I shouldn’t have read this with this song in the background. I’m a mess right now but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone no matter how lonely you feel. You mean a lot to so many people and there will be people along in your life that you haven’t met yet. Keep being good to yourself, I bet your father would be proud of you for doing that. Sending you all the love. 💙

Thank you guys. I just gave birth to another son, he had to be hospitalized for about a month. He was the first baby ive had that my father didnt hold directly after birth and say "welcome to this world little one, no one will ever hurt you as long as im around. You are very loved" ...Boy did missing him get even harder. Then i realized..we were released after a month of being hours away from home with a newborn who my dad will never get to hold,...we ended up being released on my dads Birthday :,) ugh losing your best friend/your dad NEVER seems to get any easier still...but then their are little signs like that , that make me wonder if he was really right here all along..

I dont really comment on a youtube video, but this song man. it's just too good. always wondered whether my late dad and mom are ever proud of me, too scared to ask and whenever i reflect on myself i feel like there's nothing of me to be proud of. listening to frank ocean saying that at least my mom is proud of me (and he bets it haha) feels kinda good, made me weep a little bit. sad man cannot cry in place where man can see never witnessed father weep

Just found this song. The refrain has me in tears. I feel like i've never made my mother (or father proud). 22 years on this planet and I've always been a letdown. I hope I can do it before you leave me Mama. I wish I was the son you deserved, I would give every drop of blood I have to make you proud. I'm sorry. I'm trying but I'm failing.
