I honestly don't think we will see people working in these conditions again. No one is willing to suffer to make a movie like this any more. It's the puppeteers like Frank Oz that made, especially Empire, such a special and memorable film. My sister and me knew it was a puppet...and we could see all of the intricate movements of the mouth and hands...and it made it sooo special for us. As kids, we knew it was a person making us laugh with their hand and arm movements. Do not underestimate the intelligence of a child. CGI tries to take a short cut...and the audience instinctively knows it.
