I had just been thinking about this because I had, this weekend, re-watched both Frank's last World News Tonight and the memorial episodes of both WNT and Nightline. You can hear his disappointment and determination to keep his head high. Harry Reasoner was a good anchorman....for CBS. Today, it is acknowledged that it was not the right move for him and not the right move by ABC. Luckily, Frank, like Captain Kirk, got to return to his "first, best destiny." when World News Tonight came along.

We got Roone Arledge to thank for (a) bringing Frank Reynolds and Peter Jennings back to the anchor desk, (b) keeping Barbara Walters on when Harry Reasoner returned to CBS, and (c) bringing on brothaman newcomer Max Robinson.
