Hi, I’m Keir & I was in the video with Frank, playing the piano. He was so nice to me & it was a dream come true to work with him. Stuart Alexander, the film director, is amazing and the video he has produced is incredible. We watched the first edit backstage at the Cardiff gig which was such an amazing experience. Huge thank you to Stuart & Frank. ❤️

Same here, This song hurts and heals at the same time So many of us are stuck in between and affraid So many... but still alone trying to deal with everything It's hard for us in the shadow... I can't imagine how scary it feels right up that stage... Damn man, he's got some courage !

Hi all, I'm James. I was a PA on this shoot and I also play the annoying pub singer. Yes, the shirt and shades are really my own! As a die hard FT fan for a decade and a half now, it feels incredible (and a little surreal) to have worked on this and I'm overjoyed that resonates so much with you. Stuart captured the spirit of the song incredibly well. As I worked live and saw the raw footage I knew we were making something special. I am IMMENSELY proud to have been a part of this video - if I hadn't, I'd love it just as much. Hope to see you all at a show one day! 🤟

I'm sure this means something entirely different to frank, obviously, but I'm currently going through quite serious therapy for longstanding dissociation problems resulting from trauma due to childhood abuse. when I listened to this album for the first time, I immediately put this song on repeat. I had it on repeat for an hour I think. it speaks so fundamentally to that feeling of alienation and disconnect I've felt every day of my life despite trying so hard to be present and let people in. and I'm very grateful for it. sometimes when words aren't enough we borrow someone else's. this song speaks to my heart. thank you for always being vulnerable and sharing your music, mr turner.

@janeparis1705Ай бұрын
You’re welcome. I really like your phrase: sometimes when we can’t find the words we can borrow someone else’s. By synchronicity or strange coincidence I ended up reading an interview from 2008 with Adam from Counting Crows talking about what he went through and how he decided he needed help and after a few false starts found the right people and really worked hard to be a better him. Frank’s fans are good people, the comments are positive and I have read many posts by people saying one of his songs, or remembering his words have saved their lives, one going through operation on their brain, one lady giving birth to baby Dylan whilst watching one of Frank’s lockdown gigs from home. Being brainy, his parents wanted Frank to get a “ proper career” sure he could have been a surgeon or lawyer saving lives; but only one at a time. As a musician he is helping thousands and thousands of people feel better with his words. All the best to you.

Sometimes, just sometimes, a video enhances a song … and this takes a wonderful and moving song to an absolute other level. This video makes the song hurt and the two will now always be intertwined for me.

Absolutely nailed it. Brings a whole other dimension to the song. The raw, unaddressed emotion that sits under everyday life affecting the people around us, the confusion of growing up and asking "is this all my life is?", mourning our youth (as mentioned in Letters); it's all captured so beautifully in this video.

Best song on the album, easily, and definite all-time contender. Frank is at his best when he's just punching you in the heart over and over. And what a video! A glimpse into the life of some other universe's Frank Turner, I suppose. This world might kinda suck but at least we got a lot of really good FT albums out of it.

a song to ruin for me. I love harmony no harmony, but i just wish the guitars were recorded better. They sound thin and hissy. I wish someone would give me the multitracks so I can re-mix it... not that i'd make it any better... but at least I'd feel more rested knowing that I'd had a go.
