The first night on oct 28th early show,frank had an even better more ripping solo.I had it on a snuck in cassette tape but the tape got stolen with my car in 1986.Damn! That was his best solo of this halloween series from city of tiny lights.

He played "city of tiny lights on all his shows this concert in NYC in 1977.He actually had 2 shows on each night beginning october 28th,29th,30th and 31st.I ave 4 recordings from bootleg cassete recorders smuggled in. I have over 8 guitar solos of ths song for this week of concerts. His guitar solo on the first night,late show was his best solo of the series,in my opinion.Frank chose to put the october 31st spliced to the 30th solo of city of tiny lights.

This performance from the movie,"baby snakes" was recorded mostly from the October 31st Halloween show in NYC.The solo on this song is from the halloween show until 4:59,then Zappa splices the solo from october 30th into this part at 4:59 , so it begins from the october 31st show and the solo ends from the october 30th show! It was his tradition to play 4 nights in NYC on Halloween week. Amazing how he spliced scenes together as a movie director as well.

Frank edited the film. The first part of the song is from one night's performance, then during the guitar solo it changes to another night's performance. You can hear the guitar sound change quite distinctly, that is the edit.

out of all the line ups of Frank's band.....many argue this is the best....I personally like the one-size fits all line up; however, with Adrian Belew and frank both on guitar........"&^^%$ ing A"....and then add Tommy Mars and terry Bozzio.....I can understand why many people will argue with me on this I was fortunate to see Adrian Belew live a few times ( with King Crimson, of course, and once with Bowie......who surprisingly had Walter brecker of the Brecker Brothers in his horn section)......for those of you who believe this was Zappa's best line up..........I will respect your decission, even though I disagree

Clapton was not God. He was a very good, serviceable blues rock player from the late 60s and 70s, indistinguishable from many other blues rock players. Frank had an incendiary and idiosyncratic style of playing that you could never deny was him. And he blew Clapton off the stage.
