Even if you’re on the fence you have to respect the fact that Zappa wrote the music for every instrument, wrote the lyrics, produced his own music, and played amazing lead guitar. Zappa is a steep learning curve and many people just can’t climb that hill, but for those that are willing to , the rewards will last you a lifetime.

Hey Royalle, I know you are a super fan. I just got tickets for 4-25 in Beverly for Dweezle 50th anniversary Roxy and Apostrophe. They are touring, and heard this tour is off the hook...

@@alldayadventures5418 That's Wednesday, the 23rd. Unfortunately, my concert-going days are behind me. Loss of hearing in one ear and tinnitus makes for loud environments to be unpleasant. I did see Dweezil twice. 2006 on the first tour and a few years later. Do you know the video clip of Steve Vai talking about his audition for Frank? That was in the alley where they bring the equipment into the Orpheum Theatre. That was the show I saw. I'm sure this tour is off the hook. Apostrophe (') and ROXY are stellar albums. Dweezil and the crew are the only band that can pull it off with the necessary talent and, more importantly, the "eyebrows" required! Arf arf!

The legendary George Clinton of Parliament/Funkadelic fame, once said: "Every black musician should listen to Frank Zappa." There's a great pollination: Zappa was hugely influenced by straight up blues like Howling Wolf and Johnny Guitar Watson (just listen to that dirty solo he plays here) and he became pretty fluent in the African-American funky music style of the seventies. So yeah, it sounds like a Shaft soundtrack because that's exactly the style his band was playing at the time. This one song is only a fraction of the myriad of styles Zappa navigated. A singular music talent.

With over 70 albums released in his lifetime it is hard to "get" Mr. Zappa from one song. He is one of the deepest rabbit holes around. Suggestions - Peaches En Regalia for Jazz, Trouble Every Day (social commentary), Inca Roads, Harder Than Your Husband (country) or Watermelon in Easter Hay (instrumental) are good places to start. Frank often asked, "Does humor belong in music?" and like in this song, he proves that it does.

To be fair, you can not listen to Zappa and form a n opinion on just one song..I felt his reaction was lukewarm and really didn't get it. Maybe next time
