The Beatles had stopped performing live so they would be free to create such studio-based material that required multiple recordings and precise mixing. Zappa's band's ability to produce such a faithful rendition of the Beatles' recording in front of an audience displays their uncanny musical chops and extraordinary discipline.

It's a big compliment to the Lennon's lyrics that Zappa decided not to change it (like he did, for example, in Beatles medley "Texas Motel"). Apparently, Frank decided that lyrics are already ridiculous enough - you don't need to change it.

Frank Zappa é demais, é muito bom, é um dos grandes, THE BEATLES são os maiores de todos os tempos, como pode a mente humana criar uma coisa como os BEATLES, é demais. Valeu.

In my opinion it is a very, very respectful version. Having listened to some insane Zappa stuff, such as Uncle Meat and Jazz from Hell, I was expecting him to eventually go all ape shit on it, but the arrangements seem pretty much the same to me as the original ones

That's because Zappa actually loved this song and respected it despite some of his feelings towards The Beatles.

Marie Ostermann I was lucky to catch The Grandmothers at L.A.'s premier blues & folk showcase, The Ashgrove in 71' w/ Don Preston on Keys, Roy Estrada on bass, Jimmy Carl Black on drums, Bunk Gardner joined on sax & flute by Tjay Cantrelli who was briefly a member of LOVE on Da Capo. There was probably a guitarist that I've long forgotten.

Sometimes feelings can be shown in a beautifuly technical way. In my opinion Petrucci does feel (he is not one of my favourites, I rarely listen to him). I will repeat and repear, I REALLY LIKE THE BEATLES, Yesterday i bought Sgt Peppers, great album, but a copy of 'Freak Out!'. I Love them, but Zappa is so superior than them in my opinion. 81 AWESOME albums. I try to be honest, the beatles good albums start in Sgt Peppers, maybe in Revolver, before that they weren't THE BAND.
@willisryan45763 жыл бұрын
You out to lunch! Haha Frank is great, but no vocals on Zappa material besides Beefheart approaches Beatles goodness, Frank's taste runs a bit band nerd, not to the rocking side. And I love every Beatle album, especially the stripped down early ones, and certainly do not ascribe to Zappa's thinking that pop is by definition junk and 12 minute cartoon epics are necessarily better. Different lanes, both great, Beatles couldn't play any of Zappa's stuff, but Zappa can't make anything simple and hooky in the same league as The Beatles.
@madamimadamimadam13 жыл бұрын
@gillmalka19682 I dunno if Zappa hated the Beatles, but the Beatles idolized him. Paul McCartney once said that Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the Beatles trying to make their own Freak Out! album.

One frank prided him self on being weird. His music had political statements and personal experiences behind them he was a go dam genius who didnt beed a #1 hit to make him as big as he got, he didnt need the radio to boost his name, he did it with pure talent and word of mouth. Now name me any artist that can do that. The man had a mind of his own and didnt let record companies change him or his music he is one artist that has never sold the fuck out. Cant say that today!
@bobstarr670411 жыл бұрын
The Beatles are The Alpha and The Omega of modern music, American Classical Composer Leonard Bernstein ( a favorite from Zappa) was a fan of The Beatles and gave examples on Beatles musical arrangements to his students, never heard of he teaching Zappa, i think Zappa was always hurt in the inside because of that
