Absolutely no one had a band as tight as Frank Zappa`s. Virtually all of them were virtuosos and it shows in clips like this one. RIP, Frank Zappa . The world of music is worse off for your departure from this mortal coil .

Frank's band at this time was obviously one of his best, of so many. Bobby Martin's vocals here are some of the best I have ever seen in my life, he sings with such incredible intensity. If you don't get that from hearing this, you must be dead. Yes, that's Chad W. on drums and of course, he's not "under-rated" as one member puts it; he happens to be one of the most celebrated Jazz drummers in history. But he was a child prodigy and Frank met him very early on in Chad's career. I heard Frank's band many times over the years, and several times in early 80's but I don't think Bobby Martin was in the band then. I would have remembered him. Terry B. was also really great to hear with Frank, but Chad came in after Terry and could hold his own. Frank's band was so much ahead of his time in 1984, 29 years later, it still sounds fresh and riveting! F&ck I wish I could sing like that!

Zappa was a huge talent, he chose the best musicians for his studio albums and live shows, he was one off the first guitar players to use the tapping tech, it was in 1976 on a tv show, it is on youtube, it was before anyone ever heard or saw eddie van halen, at that time only a few guitar players used that tech and for a short measure, when he played that tech live on tv he didn't say to the tv host that he used a new and rare tech, he was one off the greatest artists of all time but he was a humble person

the ability for the bass and other guitar parts to stay in key and make those shifts is just amazing. Sure his solo's are different, that doesn't mean they are bad though. I like that he brings change to the table, instead of hearing the same blue patterns and sweeps that you hear in most guitar solo's in bands anymore.

You're OK Bob6. Hitting the nail on the head. so to speak. There's a lot of phenominal live Frank "toss-offs" as you put it. Pretty tight band to pull it off. @@peterbartolomeo5542 Zappa's guitar is more clinical, gives more of a "Look at what can be done with the guitar" feel than Hendrix's "Look at the bearing of my soul in the form of sweet sound."
