My son is due in a month. I'm practicing singing this song for him. It'll be one of his first lullabies. I can't wait to meet him. 11-17-2024 UPDATE: My beautiful James is over 6 years old now. I did sing this lullaby to him often. I still sing this and many other songs to him. I also sang this lullaby to his sister. Livian was born a year after James. They both recognize this song. Music is a big part of both their lives. They love going to concerts with me and adding to their playlists. I'm touched by all the inquiries. I am a very lucky father. This song takes me right back to when both James and Livy fit in my arms so comfortably.

Surely this commentary will be forgotten, but I will write what I have felt: I'm in my room, lying in my chair. I recommend you turn out the lights, eyes closed, my headphones are ready to start. It is not a mere song, it is pure feeling. It causes tears and smiles. Peels, an incredible experience. Thanks Frank, it's not a mere song that you forget like most music you hear these days. It's January, but I'm sure it's the best song of 2017 and of course, a song that will accompany me the rest of my days. Regards, Pedro

[Verse 1] Don't breathe, there's no oxygen here Only ammonia to suffocate fear And the pastures are flooded And all the soil is sour And the trees are brittle And so are the flowers All dried up just an empty shell Away on the wind being blown to hell What happened, it was all going so well [Chorus] Sweet golden rose, don't ever rust Be ever so delicate, when lending your trust And don't come apart at the seams Sweat the nightmares, live in the dreams Be anything you believe Be anything you believe [Post-Chorus] We don't belong in a wasteland We don't belong in a wasteland We don't belong in a wasteland [Verse 2] Don't leave, there's nothing out there to see Everything is murdered, there's no mystery And history's eyes, they have seen it all It's a Modern Ruin and we are responsible It's bleak and we are pale We are the savages of a future fail No sun, no stars, just endless nights Repeat prescriptions of drunken fights What happened to us, under these neon lights [Chorus] Sweet golden rose, don't ever rust Be ever so delicate, when lending your trust And don't come apart at the seams Sweat the nightmares, live in the dreams Be anything you believe Be anything you believe [Post-Chorus] We don't belong in a wasteland We don't belong in a wasteland We don't belong in a wasteland [Bridge] We don't belong in a wasteland We don't belong in a wasteland We don't belong in a wasteland We don't belong in a wasteland [Chorus] Sweet golden rose, don't ever rust Be ever so delicate, when lending your trust And don't come apart at the seams Sweat the nightmares, live in the dreams Be anything you believe Be anything you believe [Post-Chorus] We don't belong in a wasteland You don't belong in a wasteland You don't belong in a wasteland

@@SCBLGamingFilm I'm certain he has no issue screaming in studio, but its extremely demanding and in a live setting it's not manageable for most people. It's extremely vocally and physically taxing.

@@BeyBattleBoy If screaming is taxing and physically exhausting either live or in a recorded setting then it's being done incorrectly, and Frank has the capabilities and the technique to do it in the right way without hurting his voice.

If there's any word, feel, nature disaster, or anything in this or not from this world to describe this song, is probably fear, apathy, pain. I can see all the emotions in his voice, all the power he use to figure out what is beneath or above us. Mixed feelings, mixed everything. Even if I cry everytime he starts singing and understand the mind fusion between music and feelings, even if i laugh when i ''run in the wastelands'' i cannot explain the true aura of this song. Repeating that song all day long, since the release. Cant be bored. So soft, so cruel. So much anger, so much love. Frank, you bought me the best song in the WORLDS. Thank you for all the tears and all the happiness. Truly beautiful.

I’m shocked no one is touching on how delicately and artfully he took the poets path to put an entire generation’s climate anxiety into verse. This is the issue that’s heating us daily and mentally fogging most of us. Especially when she have loved ones and look to our future. He wrote this for his daughter knowing she was inheriting a disaster “wasteland” she doesn’t belong in a wasteland. We all don’t. We need to come together and do anything we can. But the parts that’s are out of our control are haunting and he just has to scream them and it’s perched on such a place of high art. Not a protest song not a ballad just a cry to the ether in which we all stand
