Hammer's fourth Frankenstein movie is more lurid and "out there" than any previous installment. Here's the trailer: • Frankenstein Created W... #Frankenstein #Hammer

The actor who plays the Jailor in Frankenstein Created Woman is that fine Irish actor Kevin Flood -who does not receive a credit - As a young actor in Belfast in 1983, I worked with him a few times, a true gentleman - I think he is still with us (2024) - a regular on Irish and British television for years, I am glad to have this opportunity to name him.

Try to sum this film up for a friend and try to convince same person that it is actually good. Now that is a challenge!!! I just love the scene when Hans is about to be hanged and Christina arrives by coach, gets out and limps as fast as she can towards the gallows, screaming his name. Then they suddenly hang him and her reaction is just fucking heartbreaking. That scene is so well conceived, acted and directed (like most of this film) and it brings such emotional depht to it that’s rare in these kind of genre film. This really is a true gem and I love it as well. Great review, Grumpy!!!

It’s interesting that in both the Universal and Hammer Frankenstein series, the ‘let’s make the Monster a woman’ episode is the most interesting. Partly I guess it’s because it forces the writers to look past the ‘and then the Monster arises, knocks stuff over, and dies’ cliché, but partly it’s because there is a huge gap in Mary Shelley’s novel, and that gap is in the shape of the female monster that Victor Frankenstein refuses to complete. Mary Shelley told us what Frankenstein’s Monster was like, but baulked at telling us what his female counterpart would be.

It is brilliant - but batshit crazy. "Which house would you like, Herr Baron?" "The one with the built in atomic pile, I think." "Good choice, Herr Baron".
