Love it! Way back in about 1970ish, I got lost from my parents at Universal Studios and Frankenstein's monster found me crying and panicking. He assured me he liked little girls and helped me find my folks. This little 4-5 year old started a lifelong love for him that day.

Oh, did you get around to reading it? I sort of ignored it as a kid just because I put it down to the movie, etc., and then I ended up having to teach it (after studying literature and all that first, haha), so I ended up teaching it to teens when I was in my early 30s, and it blew my mind. Hope you enjoyed/are enjoying it! Good thing for me on this episode is I actually could answer most of the questions, as opposed to most episodes where I probably do somewhere on par with Jim.

I think there's a hidden one two punch to the AI stuff; lots of people are worried about an imminent self aware juncture. There's no risk of that whatsoever with any form of AI we have. Self awareness isn't required for a program to emulate the stuff we consider uniquely us, like visual art and responding to ideas. I'm willing to bet that's way, way more unsettling to most people than the idea of having to deal with a self aware digital intelligence

Frankenstein is an allegory about Judgement as in "Don't judge a book by it's cover", it looks like a monster but is in fact a gentle nature loving soul and the judgement of the people who made him, drove his badness and also Gods judgement on Dr Frankenstein playing God.

Percy Shelley (Mary's husband) & friends (including Byron) were the hellraising bohemians of their time. Drugs, freelove, alcohol, seances (although atheists)... everything to extreme. I mean, to the extreme. Nothing was out of reach. Mary was obviously part of this via her marriage. Now! Percy was a handful. Percy could be sweet & gentle (he was a romantic poet after all) but also wild/reckless & cruel & in the midst of this Mary comes up with one of the most chilling & famous horror stories of all time; It's very telling. Also. Many Americans can't use, cunt, properly. Naturally.

Have you ever been on Stern? If not you should try because you'd blow up if he took a liking to your material and interviewed you. He'd likely replay your content afterward often even when you're not on. I think he'd like your work.
