Frankenstein Unbound (1973) A terrible weapon has been unleashed in the modern era which causes disruptions in space-time. This results in random people being temporarily sent back in time through timeslips. This happens to the story’s main character Joe, as he is transported back two centuries and ends up confronting Dr. Frankenstein and his fearful monster.
Brian Aldiss (1925-2017) was born in East Dereham, Norfolk County, England. During WW2 he served in the British Army in Burma which he found more tolerable than the boarding school he had been sent to as a boy. Toward the end of the war, Corporal Aldiss was training for the invasion of Japan which was called off after the Japanese surrender.
In 1955, Mr. Aldiss first book The Brightfount Diaries was published. During his successful and productive career, Brian Aldiss wrote 40 novels and many short stories, primarily in the Science Fiction genre. He won two Hugo awards, one for most prominent new author the other for his novel Hothouse. His best know work is the wildly imaginative Helliconia trilogy (Spring, Summer, Winter) on which Steven Spielberg’s film AI: Artificial Intelligence is based.
