Well of course they were aware that they were going to be recorded for a segment. It's not like he randomly snuck up on them as all of them happened to be in a room together. lol But I do think it is at least 90% ad lib. I am sure they get told a loose premise to expect or prepare for. But this is a edited segment. Plus we seeing an edited version of the whole interaction. Who knows how much stuff didn't make it that was recorded.
