I was just looking at my new Frankfurter Arsenal puller and thinking "there HAS to be a better way to do this". And here it is! Thanks for posting.

You are my hero. I mangled 3 cases using the collets because the inertia causes the case to rotate and bend the neck. Then I searched for a video thinking there had to be a better way and I came across your video. The rest of my rounds were unloaded successfully with no more mangled case necks!

I just want to say thank you. I just bought this bullet puller to pull something my hornady cam lock puller couldnt get to (bullet too far in case). I was struggling with the collets that come with this, and the shellholder tip saved me a lot of grief.

here's a tip. don't tighten the cap. leave it a little loose so the shell rattles. that way when you strike the puller on the ground there's more inertia on the bullet head. It takes less strikes for me!

Just wanted to come back and thank you for this tip. Worked like a charm for me. Went from ~15 whacks to around 5 with it looser.

Thank you for the shell holder trick! I just had to use it for some bullets that got pushed back for the failure to eject. Almost through the whole puller in the trash because the O-ring popped off on every case. This would’ve saved me so much time!

Great info worked GREAT! I hammered it on my hitch. Believe it or not, you need a solid surface, like an anvil as you said, the wood has give. I was using washers because those collets are worthless.

I just got in to reloading and came across this video. I had to laugh when you broke the wood. :) Lesson learned.

Hot damn, thanks a million! I’ve had it hanging on the wall but never used it cause those collets look like a huge pain. Just tried this and it works great👌🏻

Thank you so much. I was using collets and nothing was working. I used the shell holder and it worked perfectly.

Neat idea . I have a few Frankfort items. Scale, tumbler and an old puller missing a few collects. Got a new puller than has spare ones so i can use the parts. Maybe the grommet holds back from vibration providing more inertia to aid process.

Bear 775 I dont like the collets, and use shell holders, the trick is the impact surface MUST be solid......I have a tumbler as well......Good value from their products......good customer service as well....

I've always used a shell holder. My shed where I reload, has a wooden floor. It does the trick.

I hit the side of a 3 lb. sledgehammer laying on a cement floor. Quick, positive, hard hits. Been using the current one for about 3 years, thinking of getting another, just in case.

I have tried using wood, but it seems that the wood has a lot of "give" in it. I have started just hitting it on my garage floor (concrete). I have an all plastic one and it seems to really hold up. One or at the most two wacks and the bullet falls out of the case.

the shell holder idea is great! however i am going to a press mounted puller these inertia units are garbage.

The best thing is no pull marks...... I try to salvage everything, the one with collets leave marks on the bullets....pulling any bullet sucks, for $15 it has worked very well. I was afraid of the plastic cracking, it has been very strong. Which one are you going to get? they keep making better & better products and I am always looking for a better product! Thanks

i hit mine on a solid steel anvil or solid piece of granit if i hit the way you did with one of my crimped rifle rounds you would have to hit it on wood between 50 and 100 times and no im not exageraring

good idea

You're placing the cartridge in the collet backwards. The domed side should be up.

Thanks from the video, and specially information about the need of solid base to hit at. Now I can spare my money and go for press mounted bullet puller. Wife would not like if I bang our kitchen table she bought And hammering a live rounds allways sounds wrong :/

Next part is to figure out what company to go with, forster is cheapest, hornady is expensive and might be poor quality on collets, that are similar to forster. But their collets can be made in home, by basic lathe and some adequate metal. Only though I dont have lathe, so there´s no advance on it About rcbs someone commented that he broke collet tightening nut made out of brass, only though there is posibility of misuse In few days I´ll know more, plenty to learn.

Hi Going to go rcbs on bullet puller But next question is Lee challenger Or RCBS Partner or cheap Lee Breech Lock Reloader? I think I´m going to go over my budget and go for rcbs partner, if it can handle 308 and 7.62x54r. It seems to be fine with 223, and 308 is not that much longer Since i´m loading small amount I´m seeing more value on rcbs;s warranty than price on advantage on lee. Do you happen to know if rcbs partner will work with lee ram primer. I don´t see why not, since shell holders and dies are interchangeable. Appreciating your answer and opinion

Maybe you should have done a video that shows that "the trick" in fact works, all you showed here is that it didn't work for you.
