I am enjoying the journey with you. Thanks for sharing with us.

Like the way you explain things KISS. THAT PROGRESSIVE LOADER WAS BUILT TO LAST. AS A OLD TOOL AND DIE MAKER I SEE A LOT THOUGHT WENT INTO THE DESIGN PROCESS. I AM SURE THE MACHINING WAS ALL DONE WITH CNC. WHAT I MEAN IS IT'S LIKE A WORK OF ART TO ME.

Wow! I want to buy one just to look at it. 😀 Thank you for sharing. I’ve had a Dillon 550 for 35 years. I’ve loaded many thousands of rounds.

From a machining and engineering perspective: always turn screws backwards until you hear/feel the click of the threads before screwing in. Always use anti seizing component on machine/press parts. For the main ram there should be a scraper seal installed.

Seems like simple, yet robust engineering - the kind that costs big $$$. You are handling it correctly, learning how it goes together. Taking the time needed for understanding. "Simple" doesn't mean fast. Too many learn that the hard, expensive way!

My comment is a little off topic for this video. Do you still have that beautiful Marlin in 35 remington? Can we get some range footage of that gun?
@GunBlue490 Жыл бұрын
I'll try to do just that!

Not that you will break or loose them, but McMaster Carr has those shoulder cap screws in stock.

I'm curious, do you need to size, de-prime and trim the cases before installing into this progressive shell loader? Do you need to clean the primer pockets first also?
@GunBlue490 Жыл бұрын
Progressive presses combine all stages in one pull, but are no different than single stage presses. They use the same dies. The only requirement is to process fired cases that are essentially clean (tarnished and sooty is ok), or brand new cases of the correct length. Primer pockets do not require cleaning with any reloading system.

So will that #2 plate work for 45-70?
@yukon4545 Жыл бұрын
I'm thinking not. 45-70 takes a specific, almost unique shellholder as you probably know.
@jeffreygraf3358 Жыл бұрын
No. 45/70 takes a larger shell plate.
@michaelhuffer9966 Жыл бұрын
How much is the price for that press
@GunBlue490 Жыл бұрын
Most online retail stores are selling them for around $999, fully equipped with power case feeder. Shell plates and dies are sold separately.

Is this the best out there or just priced rt

Chinese made products are typically less expensive than US made ones. Most chinese products are cheap garbage, but the X-10 specs and quality are excellent.

Dang that press is so cheap you need several so you do not need to change it out. Yah, cheap!!!.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I wonder how often one must lubricate that machine.
@GunBlue490 Жыл бұрын
Most progressive presses have open friction points that are easily contaminated with spent primer dust and the occasional powder that may fall on the shell plates. This shell plate has sealed ball bearings that cannot become contaminated and need no lubrication. The lubed areas are below.

How pricey are these?
@GunBlue490 Жыл бұрын
I purchased this press new on sale for $899 without the shell plates. It includes an automated case hopper. They are selling everywhere for less than $1,000. I will be following up with more assembly.
