It’s my youth, it’s amazing and I haven’t heard a song since that’s as amazing ❤ ps when you hear it again, doesn’t it make you go on. A trip back to when it was popular? It’s crazy what music can do! It’s magic ps did u see body double? And the video was released many times on public TV by Krzysztof Szewczyk (in the 80s), the program was called Videoteka or Jarmark (I don't remember exactly). I was more a bit than 10 years old and I loved it! :). Probably I also did not understand the sense but the song was great! ... from these years and this program I also remember Shakin Stevens, Limahl, Duran Duran, Wham, GM, Elton John....hehe.... eh those beutiful young times!....;)

It was hard to imagine it then: the song got banned from UK Radio 1 as too explicit and IIRC MTV would only show the video late at night. I know I never saw the video until a few years ago (I'm 56).

I remember the song was huge, girls wore white Tshirts with FRANKIE SAYS RELAX which led to WHO CARES WHAT FRANKIE SAID reply shirts. I never saw this video and I doubt it would have been played on TV back then. Sadly pretty tame for nowadays.

In hindsight was I ever naive. Used to rock out to Bronski Beat's "Small Town Boy" as well not knowing what that one was really about either.

Tarzan Boy at the time had incredible bass. I was lucky enough to find a cassette tape event at the local junkyard. Yes an actual junkyard. My sister-in-law took that tape from me.... Pepperidge farms isn't the only one that remembers.......😏

I was 11 years old,and all I knew was I liked the song, no other connotations. Long story short, I remember holding my mums hand as we went into the local record shop. My mum asked for the Relax song as it wasent on the shelf. The shop keeper said yes we have it and reached under the till. Moral of story is I just liked it as a song and nothing more.🎉

I graduated high school in 1981 and I wallowed in the joy of the 80s. I remember dancing in a gay/straight bar called the Gandy Dancer to this. I’m forever grateful to have lived and loved in that decade. I just turned 60 but this brings me right back❤😊😊❤

OMyyyy😮!! I feel so silly! At 58 now and played this some in my car , with a cassette tape over and over very loud while cruising main drag. Go around sonic and A&W with this song thundering out of my speakers than drive to the lakes and do the same. I never all this time untill this very moment knew what the lyrics were. No wonder my parents did not like this song. Also danced in many clubs to it. I would do it all again !👍

When I was in my 20s and this came out, I was roaming the streets of Amsterdam and Paris with my Walkman on in the middle of the night. I wasn't on drugs or anything, just above it all, and listening to this cassette is what I recall the most from that time.

When released back then this was the biggest song on earth, played constantly for a long time. Never saw a song more obsessed over than this one was back then. Funny how some of the average hits back then are now big youtube hits, yet some of the massive hits back then get less modern attention :D This was back when we dropped a quarter into a public phone booth and requested a local radio station to play a song

New wave..funk...punk...FFGTH..Prince...Simple Minds...etc...every month a new group..a new fashion... and me from Paris every saturday night at the 'Palace'....the most crasy night club in the capital...'Jean Paul Gautier' and cie... me not homo but some of my friends yes..we don't care about that we were free and want to be happy without too much money...!!!!

I think it was the song of the 80s with the most weeks in the top 10 (about 20) because when Two Tribes came out and debuted at number 1 (it spent 9 weeks at the top) relax became number 2! and they occupied both position 1 and 2 at the same time

In communist Serbia (Yugoslavia) in the 1980s it was a hit. I was 14 years old, when I heard this song. We had the freedom to listen to everything without limits. I'm still dreaming of the T shirt: FRANKIE SAY RELAX. I'm 53 now. I still love…FGTH FOREVER!!!

Yes @mauroro427, evidently more liberal than other communist ruled countries like Poland, Ceskoslovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, not even mentioning the Soviet Union. My first visit was in Belgrade (Beograd) around early seventies and I returned after that visit a few times more and can declare that there was much more possible on every field and aspect than in the other communist countries I've mentioned.

Relex is so timeless, they were years ahead of their time back then, especially the 12" versions of Frankie goes to Hollywood are the best 12" versions out there. I was born in 68, so I heard the track as a teenager in a discotheque, that time is unforgettable for me.

The energy here is electric. I was too young to appreciate this song. Hindsight is 20/20 though. This was part of the club scene taking off. Electric magic. The energy of inspiration and fascination. They rocked🤘!

Radio 1 DJ and kids tv presenter Mike Read was the idiot who announced live on air that he would never play Relax on the radio ever again, and the rest of the BBC quickly followed suit. It gave Frankie the kind of publicity and notoriety that money just couldn’t buy. Good on ya Mike, you dumb old prude!

I got to see Frankie Goes to Hollywood back in 1984 at a small club in NY, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to! They rocked, unbelievable energy present and they sounded great.
