@ChockHolocaust2 жыл бұрын
Yup, just by way of example watch the drums; you've got the guy staying on the high hat but we can hear a snare doing a 2 and 4 in the bar, and this is not even a particularly challenging drum riff to play either, which is a glaring example that it's complete bullshit as regards what you hear versus what you see. That bass riff is quite clearly a sampled and sequenced performance too. Don't get me wrong here, FGTH records are amazing, some of the best stuff ever recorded, but if anyone thinks any of these fuckers in 'the band' we saw on TV were actually playing that shit or even had anything remotely to do with its production either, they're sorely mistaken. Like the Buggles, FGTH was basically Yes (with the addition of some other personnel) with synths and a different vocalist. You can hear this a mile off if you listen to the label's other major signing at the time - Propaganda - on their A Secret Wish album - which has exactly the same kind of feel to it. These are absolutely fecking great records, there's no denying that, but how Welcome to the Pleasuredome sounds has fuck all to do with the bunch of scousers we all saw on Top of the Pops, because if it did, they would have been in demand all over the world as record producers.

Dunno what vid you were watching mate but he was def 100pc miming in THIS one and he wasn’t alone ! I enjoyed their hits from the 80’s but they were a studio band who’s sound was difficult to repeat live , that’s just a fact . Holly was an average singer at best and a lousy one at worst , not a troll , just honest 👍🏴
@steventhomas35674 жыл бұрын
Love this song and I love Frankie ... but this so obviously the studio recording lip-synced by Holly Johnson. If I’d paid to be there I would have felt very ripped off. It’s a pity because they showed what was possible live in 2004 with Ryan Molloy at Wembley. If you have enough orchestration on stage you don’t need to fake it like this was
