Thanks so much for this...another rarity of Frankie I haven't seen. And how extraordinary to see Angela Baddeley, just before she became Mrs Bridges in 'Upstairs Downstairs'.

In the Sotheby's sketch, Frankie is wearing a smock. That is what it is called in Britain. Teachers wore them sometimes too.

Frankie Howerd was Marvelous as Lukio the Slave in Up Pompeii and I came to the Conclusion after watching the show that he had more Brains than the family he worked for 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

There was good rationing in Britain until the early fifties. My mum said so and she was born in Scotland. That was why she fed us so much. In the war only nursing mothers were allowed rosehip jam because it was so high in vitamin C. We used to pick them and the school sold them to make money. The farm kids got time off to harvest the tatties (potatoes). Happy days. I mean food rationing.

Funny guy. He's at his funniest when it's just him talking to the camera - sadly, the work that went into casting and creating the situations was time and money completely wasted.

None of my gay friends are thus funny. Maybe cause they are not British.
