I went to their concert in Tempe, Arizona in 1986. When I was 19, my girlfriends and I never missed a movie with Frankie Laine. He was my favorite man singer and Kay was my favorite lady singer. I am playing the video as I write this, with tears in my eyes. I am now 82 and they really bring back the years when I was young. Thank you both for the joy you gave me.

I know how you feel, I also went to all of Frankie's movies over and over again. My wife and I went to this concert four time in four different places. It's a shame that there is no music like this today.

I was brought up on these two amazing performers as a child. As I was in the uk there was no opportunity to ever see them perform live ...... all I can say is that they remain massive favourites and a big thank you to whoever has posted these videos some 70 odd years later. It means so much and takes me back to my childhood and I am so gratetful to you.

so enjoyed this video...Here are two of my early 50s singers...We still have Kay after all of these years but we lost Frankie a while back. I am so fascinated with early 50s music and began to collect a lot of 78s from that era...I was born too late to remember all this great stuff but I sure do love it!

No autotune, no lip syncing no voice mimicing real talent from real talented people with no computers or software to help them in those days. If only singers today could only have the one tenth of talent of these talented old singers. I wish I could have one tenth of Frankies vocals in my singing. You will never find talented people like Frankie again he was the best in his era.

Kay was more than "good". Billie Holliday said that she was the only white woman who could really sing the blues.

It was a good time then in 59 for me and soon drifted up to no hollywood and woodland hills. Probably passed ya on the 405 or int 5. Somewhere. Cya later Mark. Thnx

Kay was a lil raspy, but Frankie seemed to still have a nice tone to his voice. Good Duo!
@markalson193811 жыл бұрын
Kay was always raspy ever since a throat infection in the early forties. That's what made her different from the sweet voice singers of her day. But with age I guess it got more so. In her day many called her the female Frankie Laine.
@teeddd11 жыл бұрын
Agreed Mark, ive always enjoyed Kay, but yes, I knew she had a raspy voice that made her unique, but she sounded as though she had either aged and it affected her voice or she had a frog-in her-throat. Good duo though, always enjoyed ole' Frankie. Remembering back when I lived & worked in Downey, Calif; He had a car dealership down the street. Have a good weekend.

I know all about Frankie's Rambler dealership. I was in the army stationed at the Yuma Proving Grounds in 1964 and drove over to Downy and bought a new Rambler Ambassador from him. It just so happens that Frankie was there that day and I met him for the 2d time. He gave me a copy of his newest single, "Go On With Your Dancing". He was a great guy, I met him several times and talked on the phone while I was putting together my web site.
