Grease was written by Barry Gibb which he could have sang it for the movie, but he decided to give it to Frankie Valli because Valli was his favorite pop singer and felt the movie needed someone from that era to sing the song. Valli had the choice of singing the theme song Grease or appearing in the movie and singing Beauty School Dropout. He made the right choice and the rest is history.

This song is a writing and production miracle. How Barry Gibb managed to pack so much into 3 1/2 minutes is beyond me. That’s why he’s Barry Gibb I guess. The horns, vocals, drums, guitars (including Peter Frampton)--everything is perfect and it never sounds cluttered or muddied. And I love the forcefully whispered ‘Grease’ that pops up repeatedly. Everyone looks back at their childhood and teen years as the better days of their live, so long as they weren’t born in a shit hole during war or something. You look at it positively for a number of reasons such as how you always remember the better occurrences when you look back on things or how life was so basic when in reality, that was because you had no responsibilities, not because of what year it was and the setting of society around you.
