The First episode of the Midweek Frankly Speaking Jamaica Podcast focuses on Ocho Rios, St Ann, and the failure of several institutions and organizations that have led to the resort town's physical decline to the point at which parts of it now resemble a slum.

The decay of Ocho Rios has been driven by the absence of an effective town planning machinery. Our local governance authorities have no vision or clue of how to modernize our small coastal towns. We are now seeing the propecy in Proverbs 29:18 come to pass, "Where there is no vision the people perish". The decay of beaurtiful Ocho Rios emphasises the importance of strong, disciplined leadership and clear direction in managing our towns and urban centres. The question that the Parish Council must now answer is how do we correct the mistakes of the past and plot a new way forward in transforming this beautiful town of Ocho Rios.
