Brilliant, just when I need another hit of Rollins I find this vid on a sleep-deprived morning. Cheers, Frank!

Rollins naturally still wraps the mic cord around his fist, even for interviews.

That could have been 4 hours long and I'd still have sat through it with glee. I like how Frank asked three quarters of five questions, and the rest was Henry going off on tangents...

Henry's the man Met him once for 30 seconds was like 1998 or maybe 1999 I was in London walking down charing Cross road. Was on the way to the Astoria to see SLAYER , SEPULTURA & SYSTEM OF A DOWN. See henry coming out of a book shop he was in London doing an early spoken word tour. I have SLAYER shirt on get a picture with him He asks why I'm in London SLAYERRRRRRRRRRR I said to him you should come He looked at me totally dead pan for 10 seconds Then burst onto laughter Yeah right ohhhhhh.... I'm going back to my hotel to read & have an early night Hahahahhahahah That's my henry rollins story

Awesome. Have seen any number of Henry’s spoken word performances over the years and he’s always incredible to listen to with so many great anecdotes to tell. Saw him a few times fronting Henry Rollins Band in the nineties and they were always really intense performances. Definitely an absolute legend!

I always said to my ma back in the day if Henry Rollins gets old is the day I finally grow up lol, and that was way back in the 90s. I'd like to think I grew up from that period of time in my life. A world without Henry Rollins I never want to know, can we freeze him or something if it ever comes down to it?👍 Great video I enjoyed it through, and through.

Never seen a Black Flag show but i bought a Rollins Band CD when i was a kid, cut to some years later I'm well versed in punk rock and underground metal scenes, then I go see a Fran Turner show only to end up about 6 feet from him screaming and beating the hell out of his acoustic alone on stage circa 2008. Man I miss those days! Henry is such a treasure man, thanks for this conversation

Henry is simply amazing on so many levels. As I, a former punk (many years ago) the scene was riddled with drugs and alcohol. The fact that he stayed completely away is striking. A unicorn for certain.

I grew up in the VA/DC punk/hardcore scene a few years after Henry and racism at shows was a big problem. Got plenty of scars on my knuckles from fighting those jaggoffs he spoke about. The scene itself was actually incredibly inclusive and had every stripe of person in it. It was an amazing melting pot of people but there were still a lot of racist assholes around causing problems.

As usual Henry's full of it with his political correctness. Yes, 80s hardcore shows were often violent. Yes, Nazi skins were a visible presence at SOME shows (especially in California where large cliques existed). But Nazi lunkheads were always a minority at any show I ever went to. All in all the punk and hardcore scene of the 80s was one of the most inclusive scenes of that era with a large contingent of Jewish kids, gays, "people of color", and many all female and female fronted bands. The main drag about hardcore was the slam pit which drove young women away from the scene. Been to many early BF shows and NEVER ONCE saw them call out or discourage violence on the dance floor, in fact, it was to some level encouraged and expected.
