Hi Frank! This video is from the early 80's. On the Bass guitar, Renato Rocha, who didn't stay long on the band. This is one of my favorite LU's songs. And yes, Renato Russo was unique. Huge Singer, huge artist. There is a guy singing nowadays with the other two, because people still need to listen to Legião. You should listen to them now. The Guy is @adre_frateschi. Frank, one day I was at a book fair event a few years after Renato had passed away.🥺 This song was playing at the place I was having a drink. It was a beautiful Spring afternoon in Porto Alegre and the place was packed. When it reached the last part everybody sang along. It was so emotional! Legião forever!

A whole generation of Brazilians grew up loving and singing their songs. An example of this is the song FAROESTE CABOCLO. Quando se exalta a suposta profundidade das letras de bandas populares e as chamam de poéticas ou coisa parecida, é por falta de conhecimento do que é poesia de alto nível. O mesmo "jovem" que as chama de poéticas, raramente lê poesia e quando lê entende pouco. Há algo de poético sim nessas bandas e elas refletem de fato questões de seu tempo. Mas é o tempo da cultura pop, em que a superficialidade impera. Qualquer coisa mediana passa por genial. 3. Urbana legio omnia vincit

There are many more brazilians bands that are truly worthy too. Barão Vermelho (Billy Negao, Conto de Fadas, Bete Balanço, etc), RPM (the whole Radio Pirata Ao Vivo album has amazing songs), Engenheiros do Hawaii (Infinita highway, Dom Quixote, etc), Os Paralamas do Sucesso (Selvagem, Caleidoscopio, Alagados, etc), Casa das Maquinas, Made in Brazil, Titãs, Rita Lee, Raúl Seixas, Charlie Brown Jr., and so many other brilliant artists and bands that really rocked Brazil throughout the 70's and 80's (even 90's). I'm from Paraguay and I love Brazilian rock. Along with Argentina the best two southamerican Rock countries
