Supla's parents are very famous politicians in Brazil. His father, Eduardo Suplicy, had been senator for many years, and his mother, Marta Suplicy, had been mayor of São Paulo. She's also a psychologist, wrote many books about sexuality and sex education. Supla has his solo career, but also has a project with his brother João Suplicy called Brothers of Brazil, mixing rock with bossa nova and MPB (brazillian popular music). It's worth checking their music too.

Supla is a very unique character, his parents are politicians but he made his way in music and even if you don't listen to it on radio nowadays, he's really famous for his personality and in general people like him, which os funny because of his punky attitude... you could suppose he would provoke the opposite but he's a really nice and relatable person (he was in a reality show like Big Brother 20 years ago) so people really sympathize with him

I don't even know how to start explaining who this guy is hahahah he comes from a very VERY traditional Italian-Brazilian family (the Matarazzos), his father is a very famous center-left politician and he has been this crazy guy very much influenced from US and Europe' s punk culture since the 80s, famous for mixing Portuguese with English catchphrases and expressions (like "c'mon" said very enthusiastically) every single time he talks. He's now 56 and he still looks and acts exactly like this. Many of his songs sound like parodies but he did produce some interesting stuff.

Interesting this is supla remaking his own song from 1985 when he played in band callled Tokyo. This is def a more modern version than the 85 one. Both good. And yes Supla always had a billy idol thing. In 1991 they both payed Rock in Rio 2 and there were some provications from at least Suplas side where he said he was not billy idol because he was clean and fit.

Frank, this punk scene with that Supla look, was reduced to a few niches, here in Brazil, mainly young people from "rich" parents. As a result, this musical style was not as consumed as expected, but it had its space on radio and TV for years. Today is more nostalgic. I don't know but this song had another version with the presence of the singer Nina Hagen doing the version of the "girl from Berlin", acting and singing along with Supla...rs
