IMO, Franky is a reflection of the audience. He cries when we cry, he gets hyped when we get hyped. If you like Franky's character, then you'll also probably love Barto when he shows up much later. Fun Fact about Barto: he's already been cast for live action season 2. For those who know why he would show up in that season, that's great for us fans since the writers are looking far ahead when it comes to their casting choices.

That's how the marines catched Buggy and Alvida with nets (just before the storm saved them). - You already seen an object "eat" a devil fruit in Arabasta. Remember the cannon with the dog dog fruit that Mr 4 had? - As Franky said, the blueprints were to make a weapon to counter the real Pluton that is out there hidden. The only person that can know where it is is Robin, so Franky not only trust the Strawhats to win, he also trust Robin's intentions and a I loved that from him. I'm not an english speaker so sorry if I made mistakes. :)

If you can only watch one, make it the 6th film, Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island. A nice calming film after the chaos of the anime.

As others in comments have mentioned we have the example of a dog gun back in Alabasta, but also when we got the "can two devil fruits be eaten" question answered a few epsiodes back, the line Blueno specifically says is "grand line scientists have already explained the conditions by which the powers are conveyed". Which is basically implying they have experimentally determined how devil fruits give their power, and with that knowledge, you should be able to "feed" the fruit powers to inanimate objects. Now we as the auidence have no idea what those "conditions" are exactly, but they at least imply there IS an explanation that would make sense.

The stupid part about the video game dialogue is that it actually makes SENSE for Chapapa (Fukurou) to do his exposition. The point is to stall for time. He is a blabbermouth. Instead of having all the crewmembers beeline for Robin somehow and worry about the key after they've secured her, he is effectively forcing the crew to split up and reduce their chances of being successful. Also, this isn't the first time you've seen an object eat a devils fruit: Lassoo is the gun from Arabasta that ate the Dog-Dog fruit: Model Dachshund and gained sentience that way. This trick can only applied to Devil Fruits of the Zoan family. As for the how? Vegapunk. Always Vegapunk. Anything remotely sciencefictiony? Definitely Vegapunk. Maybe you'll meet this mad scientist some day in, say... another 700ish episodes or so. If you're lucky.
