Hi, I’m Franky, and today I’m making some awesome sewer tiles.
I wanted to make these tiles stand out from any of my other tiles. The sewage wasn’t going to be enough of a difference. I dedicated a lot time painting these just right. All while still experimenting with resin. One of those materials I’ve been too scared to work with.
Talking about the resin, I ran into a few problems I still have to figure out. Problems I failed to mention in the last episode. Alright, let’s get into this.
Welcome back gang, let me tell you something about how I dm. When I build dungeon, I actually stray away from doing long halls unless they make sense. When you look at buildings, you notice that things tend to be split by rooms, not halls. Players still like that sense of cloister phobia, so how do we compromise. Easy, make your dungeons stand out from each other. Capitalize on what kind of dungeon is best for what type of game play. It’s nice to have one set of tiles that you use for everything, I get i. But at the same time, if you are playing a lot with the same group, I think it’s best to spice things up with different dungeon styles. Long Galway’s don’t make sense for buildings but they make perfect sense for something like the sewers.
Sewer tiles is that project I’ve put off for too long and honestly I think it was such a missed opportunity. Specially because its one of those projects you can basically offer players to explore in just about any town settjng. Stay till the end for some extra builds we’ll knock off while we are here in the seeers. So let me show you how I made mine.

I rarely watch crafters to recreate what they've done so the tools used aren't that important. It's all about the inspiration, and your builds provide plenty of that.

I don't envy your players' characters, that looks like a horrible place to be in! As for tools and that, while i love when you do builds with dirt cheap stuff like those goblin huts, it's OK to also do things like this that are meant to be more durable. And see it from this point of view, there's creators on YT doing tiles with many materials: Scotty, Bill, Jeremy and others using foam, cardboard, there's even Kristian from Crooked Staff using print and paste textures on paper, you bringing tiles using wood is interesting too!

My dude. Love the finished result. That will be a fun environment for your players. As far as the materials you're using: any crafter will use the materials and tools they have available to them. That's part of the fun for me when I make stuff, anyway. I hope you continue to do the same. Use what you can get your hands on. I would hate to see you limit your creativity because of the comment section. Looking forward to seeing your next build!

Awesome extension to your previous project. Spending time on one tile and using it as a template for the others is a great idea. how did you do the eh... Portable splash of sewage? did you let the resin cure to a thicker consistency before pouring?
@FrankyDCrafter
@FrankyDCrafter 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest with you, the portable splash was left over resin from the project. I had a silicone plate. Wish I would have done more. As for the resin, I used it not long after I mixed it. The resin I use just feels thick I guess.

Amazing work you are so creative. My wife does a lot of resin work. She says she can try to help you with any questions if you have any. Me I am working on some native american coasters & a kit bash wagon & cart for a table top rpg game. My skills aren't as good as yours, buy I try. I am better on making terrain & kit bashing figures.

Cool. I've seen sewer terrain in the past. But I rarely see anyone make accessories to go with it. Monsters/critters/scatter terrain. Because the tiles are useful, but I feel like stuff doesn't get full effect till you have a bunch of stuff to go with it. The cages you made in the first video were a nice touch. I needed something similar for a game I play. And I'd been planning on making some from cheap plastic hair curlers from Dollar Tree. Keep up the good work. I enjoy watching you brainstorm your way through projects and how you admit to and point out mistakes or problems and how you fixed them.
