So I got to the 15 minute mark where you're saying 'who wants to watch someone with depression' and I just had to comment and say, I absolutely love your channel because you are so honest and REAL. The things you've shared with us here are so brave and I love that you do that without judgement. Don't ever feel like you need to cover up your depression because you're an online presence, your honesty is just one of the many incredible things that I admire about you and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I suffered with severe depression throughout my early 20's (it comes in waves even now) and, it absolutely sucks but I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel. You've experienced an immense trauma whilst simultaneously experiencing possibly one of the worst years in our history, don't EVER feel like you need to justify how you feel about that. Your feelings are valid Fran, you are valid. As someone said below, you are not alone! I never leave comments but I felt compelled to tell you that. Now I'm going to get back to enjoying the rest of your video :)

I just wanted to pause here and tell you, that I suffer from depression, anxiety and OCD for 16 years now and there is no such thing like 'you don't look like depressed person'. Everyone's case is different and unique. And by the way, I come to your channel to see someone who is genuine and supportive of others. We often come to yt to be understood and not entertained, so don't worry! I click on your videos immediately without reading the title. I'm just seing your face and clicking, because I know you will be honest and genuine. Ok, now I'm back to watching your video. 😊❤

I had to pause the video too. I have depression, anxiety and fibro myalgia. Finding others going through similar struggles helps us not feel so alone. Thanks Fran for talking about it.

Hi Fran, I gonna ask you for some patience because english is not my first language (i could probably write in portuguese but i guess it is easier for you to understand in english)... But you are a role model for so many people, i dont even want to be an illustrator but your work ethic for example is something that everyone can admire. So when you say that someone wouldnt want to watch someone with depression really hitted me hard. As someone who suffers with depression/anxiety I think those thoughts are really common, and I do that to myself a lot so i was like NO FRAN DONT DO THAT! And i was like... but I do that all the time - and yes im trying to be gentle to myself bc of you and because you talk about it so openly. So I just want to say to you that we dont need someone perfect, we need real people so we can make a new and more open society - i know it seems like a huge steps, but someone who follow who may have prejudice about mental health may be more open minded to seek help after see your vlog. So we need people like you who talk more openly about mental health so people dont suffer and can seek help in early stages of depression, because that is nothing to be ashamed of. wow thats super long... love from brazil ✨✨

Fran! Thank you for sharing this with us! As long as you feel comfortable sharing, I believe a lot of us actually like how raw and real and genuine you are! Yes, youtube or social media can act as a way of distraction, but hearing that others go through the same things that we might be going through as well is a breath of fresh air, it's a much needed slap to the face and a come-back to reality that not everything is as great as social media paints it to be!! Having youtubers and well-known people to be raw and open about real subjects is really helpful for a lot of us! It's almost as if it helps validate what we feel as well! It can be damaging to keep such a vibrant, positive, "everything is perfect" vibe when things are not, specially when we consume that content to feel better and forget, BUT all we do is cover it up and it can be damaging.

The fact that we all have an image in our head as to what a depressed person looks (or acts) like, which has been conditioned into us by media, is why it can be very hard to diagnose depression or low mood, and why it can be easy for others to judge people about their mental health. Be kind to yourself precious Fran. Keep on trucking, feel what you feel. X

Favorite moments: Silent sketch time and when you talked us down about leaving the camera at the studio and made sure we knew what to do while you were gone! 😍 Fran, you're the freaking best.

Fran, Fran, Fran. _You know we love you_ . You're wonderfully imperfect and you're completely relatable in the ways that matter and yet, your life is so fascinating to people who don't have your specific career, situation, live in your city, etc. You're amazing and *we're proud of you* .

I come here for a human connection. To spend time and feel less alone. And so when I find people like you Fran, who are open and honest, it makes me look at my own life and feel like it's not just me. ❤️

Please don’t change I love your honesty and enjoy you repeating the subjects. Talk about depression it’s like a taboo. People need to know.

Hi Fran 🌸 It's hard to find genuine people on you tube and this is exactly why your videos are so different from everyone else. You're genuine, you don't hide your feelings and I find very brave of you to talk about hard topics. You make feel people experiencing the same stuff less lonely and this is probably the best gift you can give them/us. Thank you a lot. Plus thank you thank you thank you because seeing your videos always make me want to go back to draw even when I feel down. 💓

Please please don’t worry about the vlogs not being entertaining Fran- they’re so much fun to watch! They really help me relax and take some time for myself. Also I LOVE your “ugly” sketchbook, and I really related to what you were saying about nature/rocks being somewhat easier to draw cause they don’t require you to be so precise with proportions- I think that’s why I like drawing them more than people haha! But I just wanted to say that I LOVE the style so much, and it really comes across just how much you’re enjoying yourself as you experiment. Also, one last thing (longest comment ever!) but thank you for sharing about depression & therapy, I really resonated with it, it’ll really help a lot of people to understand and hopefully feel more empathy towards those who are struggling. Sending so much love 💛

I've always enjoyed your channel because you're a real person, and you don't pretend that everything is always great and perfect. In an age where social media makes things so filtered and unrealistic, your channel has always been so down to earth. I'm sorry you're suffering from this, but appreciate that you're being so transparent about it, because you'd be surprised how many other people go through the same thing!

I felt completely unmotivated today, so I started to binge watch your older videos and after watching six videos I came up with new creative project idea. Thank you, Fran!

Hi Fran! I don't usually comment, but I just wanted to say you really don't have to apologize for being honest about how you feel! I find it really helpful to hear someone talk about their mental health. How you describe your depression, like a fog and like a deep sorrow, is exactly how I feel when I'm depressed - and it is so nice to hear that we're not alone ❤ Hope you're doing okay and best wishes xxxxxx

Aaah Fran, like many said already, you don't have to be funny and entertaining. Your honesty and vulnerability is your superpower! The world is a way better place with people like you, not sugarcoating what's happening in life, but being real about it. Sending you hugs for the recovering process

I think I first came to this channel for the art, but stayed for Fran 💜💜💜 I’m literally so invested in you as a person and your honesty and the “hanging out with a friend “ kind of vibes I feel when watching your videos are the things I crave most so please don’t ever feel like you can’t talk about things or be yourself because literally that’s the best things you can be 💜

Fran, you are not alone. I found you in my lowest moments of depression & anxiety. I love your channel for everything it is. You are an amazing human and you too will get through this. Sometimes we just want to fly through our emotions and situations but something always makes us slow down and let’s us feel our pain & nurture our feelings as we would with a baby. Keep being you. We are here with you going through the motions and the ebb & flow of life. You are loved. ❤️

Fran, honestly, I always thought that to be a KZbinr or person in general other people enjoy, you have to be quirky, outgoing and exciting. But seeing you as a raw and genuine person who is calm and introvert is so much more relatable for me! I enjoy every minute of your videos and you are the reason I decided to be more myself in my videos and to not try and mimic other more outgoing personalities to fit the expectations of a "good KZbinr/entertainer"! I wish you all the best and that you find joy in your everyday life, again

Fran thank you for being honest about these tough topics, you're an amazing person. You don't need to think that you're not funny or entertaining enough, because we love you for being who you are. There is no term like '100% or truly depressed person' and so please take care of your mental health ( I say it as a person who had some episodes of depression, struggles from OCD and eating disorder who thought that I was not ill enough to say such things about myself even though all the therapists made these diagnoses). Hope you'll get better soon, we'll stay with you and support you in any case

I really admire your vulnerability and don't feel bad for having bits and pieces of your vlog that isn't "entertaining." if anything it makes you seem more "real" and more like family to me. You got this and keep it up, I'm really proud.
