Poor Russell, Alex and Ron don't let him speak at the beginning. 😄 FFS is one of my favorite albums and because I share my birthday with Alex, I celebrate that day by listening to the album, and watching my favorite live performance of FFS in Berlin at Lollapalooza. 😀

wow, I wish there was more about that explanation regarding Jacques Mesrine (great movies - 2 of them - starring Vincent Cassel, BTW). I also still don't know how "Johnny Delusional" came about - where did the idea come from? Who came up with it? Is any of the band Johnny? Etc. etc.

from what little information's given here, it seems that the song was written solely by Ron Mael and was probably the final song written for the album- I'm so glad it made the album because now it's become one of my favorite songs of all time. But I don't think we'll ever know where the idea came from specifically, as it seems like the Maels prefer not to discuss their songwriting on that level... Kind of interesting comparing how vaguely Ron discusses "Johnny Delusional" and how much more in-depth Alex is willing to go when talking about "Little Guy From the Suburbs," which pretty much confirms my suspicion that he was the main writer of the latter song. I also find it interesting because "Johnny Delusional" so perfectly nails the perspective of a teenager fretting over his crush, so you'd think one of the younger musicians wrote it, but that's not the case!

"The original Sparks"? Reform? Sparks hasn't done anything but reform and evolve since 1969!? Basically been the Mael brothers with different settings of band, depending on how they wanted the sound. And the sound and music have changed A LOT over the years.

It wouldn't be R&R's style to get an old line-up back together, even when performing the music they did in that era.
