this is actually the 2nd/3rd version of La Campanella before the La campanella name was even coined. It started with S.420 then S.700a/1 then S.700a/2 then S.140 and finally 141. The spanish results are from constant variations and othwr themes like Carnival de venise.

Thats correct Ex nihilo nihil nothing comes from nothing .All composed music are heard somewhere Beethoven Vivaldi and many others were going to the woods to listen to the birds song Liszt should do the same. For a musician the hardest part is the motive the theme the rest is homework

@@MoisesJimenezTorres I find it too cautious and timid, which is not at all what Liszt should sound like. Also it never sounds effortless, but in fact rather labored and heavy. Certainly, some passages in Liszt must have an element of "struggle", but not this piece :)

Laparidis does a better job, but he rushes in a decent amount of parts. He does have 3 separate recordings of S.700ii, all of them pretty different from one another, but still sharing the basic elements.

Liszt suffers of a great sterility he doesnt have own creation own themes own music he must transcript other composers music and take credit. Not surprised why he is an underrated musician.

So did Paganini as well, the Carnival of Venice melody you hear here wasn't his to begin with either lol. Just about every composer took melodies/themes of their time and transformed and incorporated into their music. Back in the day people couldn't just open up spotify and listen to their favorite opera, best they could do was play piano transcriptions which Liszt definitely provided for in a skillful way. I don't see how he "takes" credit when it literally says "themes of [composer]" in the titles. I'm not going to bother with your statement that he doesn't have his own themes because that's just painfully untrue and I think you know that too, unless you discovered him yesterday.
