I love this music. Thank God for Schubert's music and the Hamelin's interpretation.

The absolute best interpretation of this wonderful piece. I like the faster speed of the transition section. Enjoyed playing this impromptu in college. Not easy!

Which interpretations do You really know to judge in such a way? Besides that, an Impromptu of Schubert is not like a "best" football match or something like that.

Hammelin's bass lines manage to literally vibrate my guts. No matter the instrument he is using or the recording media. It is the touch + the balance. Uniquely definable only for this sonic marvel among scores of other reasons. Alchemy.

This is a much more profound composition than implied by the notes alone. But, Marc-Andre Hamelin brings out every nuance of beauty with his wonderful ability to make each part sing like voices in a choir. He also give variety to it all so the theme tune never gets dull or repetitive. A truly wonderful performance which IMHO should be the standard by which all those who aspire to playing Schubert should be judged.

Now I have a problem. Do I like Brendel or Hamelin more? Brendel’s delicacy or Hamelin’s clarity? Maybe I can enjoy both equally

The answer is... Sokolov! 😉

‘The beautiful one’ is all relative. I mean is a wife a beautiful one? Any melody can or even collection of notes can be taken to be appreciated because it is the situation in your life that can drive you to like an ‘a non beautiful one’.
