Being Collins the production House Label, the sound of both pieces, had to be those of a quality album. Besides, Collins is always bringing us real talents, maybe not so widespread known. Here we have the intense and celebrated Death and the Maiden String Quartet. I prefer it to the popular Trout Piano Quintet, but both together makes it a good deal. The couple of records being very well played, they are a good sample of a cool and "forever", young composer. His Piano Sonatas maybe a tad more difficult for a profane or even for a music dilettante. As they sometimes were a field where to essay new ways in composer's innovative ideas. But with these couple of Chamber works, you can't fail. If looking for more about Schubert, go for his most appreciated piano Impromptus (the Pires ones being a remarkable album). For his Moments Musicaux, my choice would be the Radu Lupu cd. Concerning his Lieder, don't doubt in getting the great Barbara Hendricks recording. One does only hear a Contralto each seventy five years (it is said!). And when this fab Singer did that, she had yet this voice register. That's pure beauty all along. And the whole, for sure, will be a good Schubert works représentation. In every music lover's, collection. 🎵🎶❤️👍🇺🇦
