I went in 2015 to fraser Island with a camper trailer for 6 days from Melbourne. We went to escape the miserable Melbourne weather and all we got was rain the entire 6 days. We didn't do much except sleep and once did some fishing that was fantastic. Hopefully going to go again in September, this year.

Fraser Island doesn’t suck, your choices did! Next time, book your campsite at waddy point. Plan to get off the ferry halfway down the runout tide and pin it directly to camp. Bring extra fuel and a fridge. You can launch the boat from waddy point or drive up to the sandy cape fairly easily each day. Fishing is way better up the north end! Hope you get a chance to go again soon!

Do you think it is possible to do it with Honda CRV? If yes, what gear would I need?

If it’s AWD I think you’ll be fine man. I was confident that my old car (xtrail 4wd) would have been fine. Would struggle at ngkala rocks though

Fraser is awesome. Just need to do a bit of research. They don’t call it the biggest sand island in the world for nothing. As for making camp life a bit easier those cheap kings fridges are awesome. About $260 for a 50 litre. Perfect up there cause you drive most days so your battery will be fine. I use one in my boat and it’s great.

@@watt0537 and what was it called before people arrived? We can call things by names that make sense. As for that protest chant. No mate. The indigenous population is about 3% of Australians in 2024. We can only live in the here and now. It’s best not to let yourself be dragged around by angry, irritable and unelected activists.
