I was born in the early 1950s. I heard it on the radio in my Dads car many times as a young child. I never heard it again until around 2005 while driving semi in Northern Florida one Friday night coming from WZWD radio out of Georgia. I didn't hear it again until today and it was a video on Facebook. Great old song.

This is a lovely country song. It is too bad the writer wrote ``banks of the Rhine' ' instead of using Berlin. A Fraulein, if there are still some, lives in Berlin. Everywhere else in Germany, she would be a Fräulein.

@@lyndafayesmusic USA people have left off two ``dots' ' ( umlaut ) in Fräulein. Singer says Fraulein, which is strictly an old Berlin way of pronouncing. Maybe, in modern world standardization, Berlin pronunciation is obsolete. Here is difference - standard German Fräulein (Miss) ----> [ froy line] old Berlin (and in USA song) Fraulein ----> [ frow line ] standard German Frau (Mrs) ----> [ frow ]
