There is a device called a Griddler that has panini, grill, and you can also buy waffle plates for it. The issue is that it is horribly expensive to buy the extra plates for waffles, so it is cheaper to just have a separate waffle maker. If it was all bundled together and had let's say donut and cake pop and everything else, it would have been amazing. You can also flip a switch and make it so that it is two flat plates for eggs or something.

I own the reg Dash Mini Waffle Maker, and since its just me I saw no sense in getting the special designs one. Today I watched just out of curiosity to see what they would look like. Anyways, I only make about a cup's worth of batter & make as many it makes. I freeze whatever I don't eat for the next time. I think its great for those who are single like myself OR for those with children; but a bigger standard waffle maker would be best for those with larger families. IMO BTW: I also got mine from WM for $8.98 + tax for my BD in Sept.

I got the spring version of the multi-plate for $29.99 at costco - it takes me about 2 minutes per waffle which expedites things, and if you aren't changing plates there is no reheat time. My partner and I really get a kick out of the different plates/ think it is very cute so its worth it to us! It is annoying that you cannot by most of the different plates individually, but rather they only come sold with another waffle maker which we don't need

Generally speaking, the first one will always take the longest to cook. Sometime I make 2 loaves of bread and the second one always takes a shorter time than the first. This is true with cookies too. It takes a while for the entire mass of the thing (as opposed to just the plates) to heat up and stabilize. When you make them one of after the other, the cooker doesn't have time to cool back down entirely.

But I did not get the 7 plates nor do I care about the seasonal ones. I wanted a waffle and the flat griddle surface. which is what I got with the storage container for $20 cheaper and I love the thing. I also have the Dash appliance that makes 4 circular waffles that i use to make Chaffle Sandwiches for a hamburger but etc.

I could see someone listening to music, a podcast, watching television or KZbin videos while making flavored waffles for the holidays over and over so they could stick them into the freezer for later and trot them out as appropriate and heat those little things easily in a toaster--especially if it's a 4-slot toaster. Add some good topping and you could eat them like cookies, cupcakes, or "ice cream sandwiches". At least they put the different plates in the box. I'd expect a corporation to put only a few in the box and dangle more plates for an additional cost.

I got two of them used for $10. I keep them in my locker at work. They make awesome burgers! I use one to toast English muffins and the other one to cook the burger. Then I put the burger together with some cheddar and the whole thing goes back into the waffle iron to toast in the leftover burger grease. Once the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted, I take it off and add lettuce and tomato. I would highly recommend this product, but I do not recommend buying them new @ $50. Get them used!

I have a few Dash appliances, and enjoy them a lot. BUT - the one I haven’t tried yet is the Electric Mandolin; after it arrived a couple of years ago, and unpacking it, I developed a bit of fear due to all the darned attachments…maybe I’ll “grow a set” and dive in January. 🤷‍♀️
@anti-ethniccleansing465
@anti-ethniccleansing465 Жыл бұрын
I just looked it up. Why fear though? I could understand fear with normal mandolins because one’s fingers get so close to such a sharp blade and many people have suffered terrible injuries because of that, but the electric mandolin looks like a totally safe product, using a feeding chute like a food processor. Speaking of food processors... I think a high end one is well worth getting over an electric mandolin, because it’s capable of doing everything the e-mandolin is, but can do sooo much more. That big e-mandolin looks like it takes up just about the same amount of kitchen space as a food processor too! I know it’s a big price difference, but if food processors are essential for a ton of dishes these days, and are huge time savers.

Nah, the benefit of one model vs the other is the interchangeable ability and the designs on the plates, not speed.

it makes sense for it to be distinctly more expensive (because just think about how much a single plate could be reasonably priced at), but unless you're a big fan of mini waffles and love the idea of matching them to any occasion, it simply isn't worth it. not because it's a _bad_ idea or _significantly_ overpriced for what it is, but only because you don't care much for the feature making it more costly.

Thanks this was very helpful, I just saw them in Costco for less plates and money. Think I'll just stick with the ones I have.

I got my mini dash on sale for 9,99 and you can get them with one special unremovable plate, so I would just buy 5 of your favorite shapes mini dashes.

No parent would give their kids a choice. What most of us would do is make 10 of each plate, a few at a time, freeze them and pop them into the toaster when needed. I don’t know a single person that makes fresh breakfast in the morning.

If I decide to get one, it will be at Costco. The price is much cheaper, plus there is a manufacturer’s coupon for more savings right now.

You only preheat if you're changing plates. If you're making all Christmas waffles you won't need to change plates but you will have a house full of people waiting

Can you place the plates in the dishwasher? If so, that could potentially be worth the extra money since I hate cleaning waffle plates by hand.

If someone has kids and wants to treat them to special waffles for whatever reason, then yes, it's worth it. It is normal that it takes time to heat up when you change plates, any similar device would as well. But things like this are not designed to be changing plates after every waffle. Make a batch using one plate, keep them warm in the oven, and then do the same with other plates until you have the quantity you need to make the kids happy. I can't imagine too many adults wanting anything other than regular waffles in any case.

$50 is different than £50 - just saying! The latter is a good deal more money. But I wouldn’t spend $50 on this thing either.

My mom and I came up with this idea a few years ago when I bought a couple different Halloween shapes. This winter I was planning on doing waffle party with my young nephews, and it occurred to me that I'd still want multiple machines to make enough and have them still be warm While serving . I do still like the idea of having a couple machines, and being able to buy the specific plates i want.
