The scariest part about Fred is that he represents the way that so many children have their own personal boundaries and even their physical wellbeing disregarded and are forced to deal with adults who have foul intentions just because they’re family or close friends.
@darinlunderman806311 ай бұрын
...and the dynamic of how Fred is viewed & treated by family/friends just because he is one of them. Muriel seems blissfully unaware of what is going on between Courage & Fred, representative of how some people close to a victim do not notice how predatory individuals are taking advantage of their loved one. And in Eustace's case, he knows that Fred is a weirdo and probably shouldn't be around Courage...but he doesn't care, representative to how some people close to a victim are apathetic jerks to their loved one. The two orderlies from the madhouse represent the system coming to take away the creep, Fred, when the situation is finally brought to their attention. However, that is only a solution when it is properly reported on a case-by-case basis. There are many 'Freds' in the world, and they aren't reported on enough because too many family & friends seem to have a particular perception or attitude of what is going on. It's funny how a kids cartoon can make us think.

The reason why Fred is so creepy despite the fact that he is one of the most "innocent" antagonist is because this episode can be interpreted in really different ways, especially because of the word "naughty" and the way he describes his obsession with hair You can't trust him because everything about him reminds to a r@pist, the scene in the bathroom, the word "naugthy", his storys, even if at the end is not supposed to be an analogy of that, they nailed the creep behavior with him, making him scary or uncomfortable for people

I think that the scariest part of this episode is the fact that this might've happened IRL. Think about it, all the other bad guys are aliens, demons, cannibals but Fred's a guy with a hair fetish
@YourLocalPoshBoy2 жыл бұрын
Ehh I don’t think it’s a hair fetish. It’s called Trichotemnomania, it’s an obsession of cutting/shaving peoples hair to the point of baldness. I think it’s like an obsessive-compulsive habit, Causes of trichotillomania is said to be a way of dealing with stress or anxiety. a chemical imbalance in the brain, similar to obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) changes in hormone levels during puberty.

This episode basically is about how a hair fetish took over and ruined Fred's life Edit: okay so I'm going to say it clear. Fetishes are okay and fine (like go at it go have some fun) but I'm talking about how Fred's obsession gone too far and started to hurt his mental health and the people around him. So in short it's okay to have fetishes but be safe, healthy, and aware about it and do seek help if you think you might have a problem.

I had never realised that this episode highlighted pedophilia. The fear/creepiness courage feels from Fred is exactly how a kid would feel in the presence of a molester. Muriel sitting outside the closed door is a repredentation of adults ignoring red flags by relatives/friends who in most cases indulge in such activities. Children who have faced abuse keep on figthing with it till adulthood. The trauma is too complex for a simple mind to process.

To be completely honest the word p***philia triggers me, perhaps because I've seen the effects of it firsthand. I mean Courage definitely gets assaulted in this episode, but I really don't think it's supposed to be taken that seriously. For one, Fred doesn't limit his fits of mania to children. It seems to just be implied that whether you're a person or an animal, even Fred's own pet, nobody is safe from his shears. Courage, Muriel, and Eustace act the same way as they do in every other episode. There's nothing particularly menacing about Muriel or Eustace in this episode. Eustace would have slammed the door on Courage even if Courage had walked in the bathroom alone, let's be honest. I also think the mark left on Courage at the end, "With Love, Fred," is just a last laugh from a goofy villain, but I suppose you could see it as mirroring the permanent scars of real life trauma. I don't buy it though. But of course you're free to see it how you want as well, that's the great thing about art. I just feel like I had to defend my own thoughts on the episode after reading such a crude theory.
