Come along with Kristy, Ali and Fedora to pollinate Vanilla Flowers at Patos Suertudos.
In the last two years it was happening in April, so we were surprised this week to see flowers in January. Thankfully, Ali and Fedora were eager to learn. New flowers open every day, so we need to be ready to pollinate them before they close up and fall off.
Since the bees are native to Mexico and don't live here, in order to grow vanilla, we needed to learn how to take on that role.
Tune in every week for a new episode, a quick peek into happenings on the Patos Suertudos (Lucky Ducks) permaculture demonstration site in the southern highlands of Costa Rica.
Much love and laughter
See you soon!
