This is the first of 6 episodes covering the enormous, incredible careers of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It has in intro to the series, and then covers their careers and lives through Vaudeville and Broadway up to the point where they entered Hollywood.

This was an amazing beginning to a series! As a huge fan of Ginger and Fred, I began watching with trepidation, which soon turned to astonishment - rarely has anyone accurately told their stories and their histories and incredible rise to fame in Hollywood's golden age. As a writer of historical fiction starring Fred & Ginger, I've done a lot of my own research and you've gotten it right so far, including their early dating which was more than just one or two casual dates. The Casino, for instance, was anything BUT casual! Looking forward to the rest of the story, and I even learned a few new things. I simply love Ginger, Fred, Adele, George and the others I assume we'll meet in the next few chapters (Hermes, Randy, Lucy?). Well done.

Just saw this. I am struggling with the heavily copyright enforced movies of theirs, it seems there is no way I can tell the entires story in one video. I need to develop a style of full movie reviews. That is not my nature, I thnink chronologically, so I am working on it, hope to have some results soon.

I always enjoyed this duo. I'm 83 and would sometimes stayed for a 2nd viewing. We could do that in movie theaters back then.

I remember that. When American Grafitti came out, went to midday screening with a friend, nobody really in there, we really liked it, so we stayed rfor a second, not sure if we were being naughty, LOL.

I am very happy with the first, need to trim the 2nd some, which I will do once I have all the pre-Fred Ginger movies up, but I am so bogged down on episode 3 again, because I am always making them too long and the KZbin copyright robot is killing me on this one. I have to change the way I explain entire movies. I have watched some other excellent reviews, and will watch a few more before I resume on #3. Again, thank you, the loyalist fan of my work.

@@thedriveinmoviehistory5327 So Ginger ditched Fred...that shocked me...I wonder what that letter said...also what novel was that one person talking about..? I just purchased a book on e-bay called, "The Fred Astaire And Ginger Rogers Murder Case" by: George Baxt. It arrives on the 12th and am excited!

Remember, this is all just a slightly informed theory. The two say so little about this time period, Fred almost nothing. Fred was in one hell of a mess between his wife and his career. As quoted by him in his biography, she was jealous, insecure and didn't seem to like most people. So what happens to poor Fred? He is in 9 of his first 11 movies with this gorgeous actress who had previously played loose women and he had dated enough they had a "favorite spot". Ginger's wistful statement about what might have been between them speaks volumes, but for the record she says similiar things about some others. I think every man in her life had to accept being second to her career. I think she was very sad about her personal life, but too proud too declare that clearly. During their partnership it became insane, with Fred's wife thoroughly reviewing the just released script updates with Fred, and then Fred demanding adjustments. Far too often Ginger had to perform in these movies with Fred's wife on the set, I assume to watch over them. I beleive Fred says so little about Ginger in his biography from loyalty to his tragically deceased wife, and it was not until he was almost 80 he gave Ginger the credit she obviously deserved.

@@thedriveinmoviehistory5327 True. thanks for clearing that up. the whole thing just upsets me...we can only say that they did love each other dearly, throughout their lives. but after a certain point, they knew that becoming a couple was out of the question. Gosh! I wish that Ginger would've stayed in New York...but everything happens for a reason. they knew that the other one was great at all they did and that , together, they were like peanut-butter and jelly! the praise was given to one another without anyone knowing. the praise was given through dance.
