So Sega, the Japanese Publisher of the game (developed by System Sacom, a Japanese development studio) they sold publishing rights to other companies for Europe and American release, but they also did the translating and localization work instead of having the other publishers localize the game individually. It was also 1996, and localization was worse in general. That’s why the phrasing is so janky and weird to us Americans (and Danny, around 18:20), it’s because the lines were written with a super thick Japanese accent.
