How Dan Aykroyd never ever breaks character is incredible! When Dan did the Skit as Beldar Conehead on SNL. The one when Frank Zappa came to pick up his daughter Connie for a date. Zappa totally lost it as "Beldar" was consuming mass quantities during the father/date talk waiting for Connie! I almost peed my pants laughing! A lot of comedians can only be comedians. Aykroyd was the son of a Canadian government official and could easily have become a bureaucrat, an executive or an engineer. When I was watching these episodes "live" back in the 70's, I used to just love the way Dan Aykroyd seemed to be pushing whatever he was doing to what felt like the limits of what you could get away with on TV. It was sort of like he was saying, if you move that line forward an inch, I will take that inch right fucking now. He always seemed to have this vibe of having more cards than he was playing, while still playing plenty of them. In some ways he was like the American version of John Cleese. Someone smart and in control but with something crazed and more intense about to explode through the veneer. That powder keg quality. They were both good at funny walks too. When I was a younger guy...every time he turned to the camera and said "Fred Garvin, male prostitute"...the look, the voice, the absurdity of the sudden sub-titles, the whole thing just killed me. So glad you they're posting these classics lately.

@chris Barnett key word in your comment is "fans" meaning their are people out there who don't like him. Comedy is subjective. I love Jane Curtin, but a lot of KZbin commenters can't see why she was chosen. However she stuck around for the first 5 seasons of the show and then went on to win back to back Primetime Emmys for the sitcom she started after she left beating out her co-star, members of the cast of The Golden Girls and the Mary Tyler Moore show to get them. Also, joke stealing sh*tshow Amy Schumer was the 2nd highest paid comedian 1 or 2 years ago and I'm STILL trying to figure out how that worked out because she is awful. Therefore, chill out because there are people out there who aren't going to find your comedic Lord and Saviour Farely God's gift to comedy like you do.

I'd forgotten how funny this skit was! I have been looking for that sport coat since I first saw this skit on a Best-Of countdown back in the 90s! Ridiculously plaid and gaudy. I could not love it more!

Danny was the best. Garret was one cool cat. "I got eight girls... and Fred"

Looking at this 70s skit and all of a sudden I smell cheap cotton, polyester and cigarettes. And he said he had a work order

His qualifications are impeccable. Fred Garvin, best in the biz.

Btw my dad had a backseat driver's license as a joke from one of his buddies back in the 70s. I remembered seeing it a long time ago. He also had a pencil with an eraser at both ends. :-)
