Fred Kelly is my fucking savior. I cut my nails to learn the piano and his picks are the only ones that make my guitar playing still possible. Thank you, sir.

Been playing 42 years and always used a flat pick and finger picked with the remaining three. I bought a few Fred Kelly thumb picks and it opened a whole new world !!

I have been using the bumble bee for about a year or so now. I was never able to make thumb picks work for me until these. Tilt the sharp end to about 11 o'clock and you can shred or finger pick. They WEAR down quickly if you shred. I have found a fix for WEAR. Dab super glue on the worn area then sprinkle baking soda on area. Use nail file to smooth down. It is now a much harder surface then before. Shreds better. I dearly love these picks. I set mine on 11 o'clock and super glue it in place. Always perfect.

I just found out about these guitar player helpers. The Bumblebee seems like what I have been looking for. Love Mr. Kelly…seems like a great man and I am so grateful for people trying to solve some of these little issues we have. He seems to have a decade or so on me, but I always chewed my nails and now that I’m getting older my nails are getting brittle and now when I try to be disciplined and grow them they break. And I have no desire to glue plastic onto my fingers. Thanks…keep on play’n forever.

Just discovered these picks. I've been a Dunlop Jazz 3 user for 25 years. During the cold months I lose pinch strength in my right hand due to an old neck injury. I never felt comfortable with regular thumb picks, but the Bumblebee feels great. I've always been more of a flat pick & hybrid player, but now I feel like it won't be hopeless to start working on my fingerpicking more seriously. Thanks Fred for this wonderful innovation. I look forward to trying out the freedom picks as well.

Smart. Very cool can’t wait to try them. I really like the idea of the thumbpick and being able to adjust the Angles.

This thumbpick is too much!!! 20 years ago my guitar teacher recommended the Dunlop jazz III and over the years I’ve tried lots of picks but always go back to the jazz III. After I got into fingerpicking I spent years trying and hating thumbpicks until I found the Fred Kelly Slick Pick. I have a slender thumb and it was the only thumbpick that didn’t drive me crazy. I was sure I had found the best thumbpick in existence until I tried the Bumblebee Jazz. My two go-to picks (the Dunlop Jazz III and the Fred Kelly Slick Pick) in a beautiful marriage!! This is not some multitasking gimmick (like a toaster that’s also a vacuum cleaner). This is straight-up the best thumbpick I’ve ever tried. Even without exploring its “flat pick / thumbpick hybrid functioning capabilities” or whatever, this is just a really, really comfortable thumbpick. Well for me, anyways. Well done, Fred!

I find the Bumblebee's the best thumb & flatpick hybrid- and I've tried a bunch. You can still get pinch harmonics, but you have you upstrokes and your index finger, rather than the thumb 's pad. I also find the Bumblebee's a great teach tool for guitarists who are trying to improve their right hand accuracy and speed- don't know if that was intended but it works great. Lastly, they work great for falling asleep while playing; no more lost picks ;)

I'm still in beginner stages but what I finally discovered works best for me are 2 jazz bumblebees, one on the thumb and one on the pad of the index finger with the index being my main goto for strumming and the higher strings. It allows the index to pick in both directions and gives me strumming sensitivity that I otherwise had problems with. Also the index pick can come in at an angle for smoother playing. Maybe it's because we use the index in writing that it makes it feel so natural to use it in playing. Trim the picks as needed if you wish.

Looking for the right thumb pick to start finger style. Like the idea of being able to switch back to flat picking on the fly. Will look at the freedom picks as well...I’ve already have had suspend finger style practice after I’ve ripped into my ring finger nail!

I had a guitar player a few weeks ago call me and asked me if there were anything we could do for him because he had cut part of his thumb off down to the knuckle, I sent him some of the Bumblebees and I called him a few days later after he got them and was so excited about them, because he could play his guitar again. We have had many disabled customer that the Bumblebee picks have really helped. I had a lady guitar player that suffered from disabling arthritis, so she tried the Freedom finger picks. Happy to tell you that this picks is just what she needed. She is able to play again with no pain. I am so proud of my Dad for making a guitar picks that has helped so many. Well, good luck getting any response from these people if you have an issue with the picks you purchased. Email after email unanswered. They are painful - cutting into my cuticle and pinching my finger. What a waste of money! Original comment: I just received my freedom picks today. Is there a way to expand them a little? I love the way they assimilate my fingernail but they pinch my fingers so they’re pretty uncomfortable.

whats the difference between Fread Kelly's Derlin and Poly Freedom picks?
@zeebooker6 жыл бұрын
derlin louder and brighter. poly softer and "more natural"
@helelnkelly85616 жыл бұрын
Delrin is an extremely strong, unbreakable material, and provides a very soft and natural sound on the strings. Ploycarb is also very strong, and has an appealing transparent color. The sound created from a polycarb pick is louder and brighter than that from the delrin. Hope I have helped. anything you have a question please you can contact us on our website at www.fredkellypicks.com or you can call us at 989-348-2938 Thank you Sincerely, Tricia

How do they compare to herco thumb picks
@AngelMartinez-qs3cf9 жыл бұрын
Hi I have a question I'm only 5'7" but I discovered when I used a medium thumb pick it's a little tight, but when I use a large size thumb pick, I have to lower a little down my thumb to keep snug and getting loose. I play classic rock, blues and some country. I see from your site that you have the Jazz Thumb pick and the Tear Drop pick. Which is the better one being more comfortable to play rock? Thanks
@Burps___8 жыл бұрын
Angel Martinez I'm sorry, Angel, but it appears Mr. Kelly has no intention of answering you. After one year waiting, I'd suggest that it's reasonable to return to your Dunlop thumbpicks.
@zeebooker6 жыл бұрын
you can change the size on your thumb by boiling in water for a minute then reshaping. You can also trim, sand or file the pick part for your picking style needs.
@helelnkelly85616 жыл бұрын
So sorry about not getting back you you on this until now. I am Fred's daughter Tricia. We try to try to answer everyone as soon as possible. Fred play finger Style and country as well as gospel music and He uses the Bumblebee Teardrop Large heavy . We have a well known artists that play Jazz and he like the Bumblebee Teardrop Large X-Heavy . We have a music professor from Miami who love the Bumblebee Jazz X-heavy standard size he love them and plays all styles of music.So because you play rock, blues and some country you should try the Bumblebee Teardrop and the Jazz large. I hope I have helped you. Thank you for writing us and again so sorry about not getting back to you before this. Julia - Thanks very much. Let me give you a hot tip. If your fingers are small order a small. If they are medium order a medium. If they are large order a large. Thanks for your pithy and important question....Regards.....Mr. Dumbass.....Remenber, I'm a dumbass....not you
@JLFsoccer6 жыл бұрын
Zebooker obviously i was asking about the specific sizing measurements. Not small, medium, large. Last i checked my fingers arent labeled a specific size smh
@zeebooker6 жыл бұрын
Julia - Neither are mine. I simply have to use my common sense and assume that because I'm a male with large fingers I should order a large out if the three choices. After that if I need to fine tune I'll boil the thing for a moment then resize/shape it. That's all anybody who go's to the website to order can do. Not to mention that nobody but you can see the size of your beautiful fingers so how was anybody supposed to answer your original question? Mystifying......Mr. Dumbass PhD

The Freedom Picks are hardly "Freedom" at all. I found these to be clumsy and clickedy clackedy. They do not allow for the freedom Nails give, Alaska picks would be my second choice if I didn't have a good set of nails.
